Feature Product: Canvas & Burlap Fabric Sheets

We are Featuring today Canvas & Burlap Fabric Sheets.  The possibilities are endless using these products!  The sheets come in 30″x36″ and are ready to design with.  The project that we are showing today is a Bird’s Nest along with a tutorial on how to make it.

Here are some facts about these products:

3.       Perfect for most die cut machines – not Cricut – better on accucut style machines.

4.       You can apply rub ons, iron ons, paint….. the burlap is better with larger formatted, less detailed stamps and stencils and the canvas is perfect for just about everything. 
5.       Love combining paper and canvas together – stitching, gluing and more… 

Bird’s Nest Tutorial:

A Spring display always needs a nest…

When you are making the nest, create a “bowl” like shape to be able to hold eggs or a bird.

First start by cutting a 6″x36″ strip of canvas.  You can paint whatever design you would like, I thought that polka dots would also be cute for this project.  I chose a chevron design and used a pencil to draw a pattern directly on the canvas.

Fold in half and then roll the end that will become the center of the rosette.  All you do is:  Twist, Rotate, Glue!  I didn’t make it tight and also every one you make will look different…that is the beauty of this project!  {if you need extra help there are tutorials on how to make Fabric Rosettes on YouTube}

I used Fabric-Tac by Beacon Adhesive to make my nest.  It is the best glue to really make it stay, I have used hot glue with burlap and you have to be really careful to not burn yourself!  To have a larger nest, you can add another layer of fabric.  Burlap was the texture that the nest needed.  Start the second layer in the back and come around.  As you go around, make sure you are watching your shape of the nest and make the “bowl” like area for the middle of the nest.
