DIY Valentine Projects

Do you decorate for Valentine’s Day?  Why not a simple banner, table runner or gift wrapped boxes? These fun projects are quick and easy and  slip right onto the table, mantel or entry table and will add some color to those late January and early February Days.  Pinks, Reds and Canvas come together to create these trendy projects that Alison created.

Table Runner

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, some of you may be hosting a party. What better way to spark up your table than with a beautiful runner. Today I want to share a Valentine table runner I made with Canvas Corp products. To create this festive runner, I started with the 14” x 58” Canvas Table Runner.

First, I created the 3 heart shape paper templates which you will need for this project. They are 8”, 6.5” and a 3” wide, heart shapes. Using these templates, I cut four, 8” hearts out of the Red Canvas Sheets, four 6.5” hearts out of the Paris Fabric Panels and four, 3” hearts out of the regular canvas. Next, I centered and pinned the Paris fabric to the Red Canvas and hand stitched them on with red embroidery thread. I then hand stitched a border around the small 3” canvas hearts with red embroider thread and set those aside.

Next, I made multiple fabric flowers with the Paris fabric, Hot Pink and Red Canvas. You can find floral templates online or you can use the many Burlap Flowers that Canvas Corp has to offer. I next made small pom-poms for some pops of white. You can also use buttons for additional embellishments. I then evenly spaced the four fabric hearts along the table runner and hot glued them on. Finally I arranged the flowers, pom-poms, canvas hearts and buttons on the border of the fabric hearts and hot glued them on.

Looking for some Valentine décor ideas to cheer up your home. I wanted to share a floral Valentine banner I made with Canvas Corp products.

Materials Used:

• Canvas Corp Canvas Shape – Flags (6 pieces)
• Canvas Corp Printed Canvas 12” x 12” – Tile Fabric (2 pieces)
• Canvas Corp Canvas Sheet – Hot Pink Fabric (2 pieces)
• Canvas Corp Pink and Ivory Ribbon Stripe Paper (2 sheets)
• Canvas Corp Mini Clothespins Red
• Red and pink embroidery thread
• Ribbon, Trim or Lace

Tools Used – Paper (for template), scissors, hot glue gun, embroidery needle and pins

Step 1:  I created a flag-shaped paper template about 80% smaller than the Canvas Flags. Using this template, I cut flag shapes out of the Printed Canvas 12” x 12” – Tile Fabric.  Pin the fabric shapes to the flags and hand stitched them on with red embroidery thread.

Step 2:  Then use paper again to make a template and then cut out 3 (2.5”-3”) wide hearts out of Canvas Sheet – Hot Pink Fabric and 3 out of Pink and Ivory Ribbon Stripe Paper. Center and pin the fabric hearts to 3 of the flags. Using pink embroidery thread I hand stitched them on. Then, still using pink embroidery thread, hand stitch a border around the paper hearts and hot glued them to the remaining 3 flags.

Step 3: I then made 3 fabric flowers with the Hot Pink Canvas and 3 paper flowers with the Pink and Ivory Ribbon Stripe Paper. You can find floral templates online or you can use the many Burlap Flowers Canvas Corp has to offer. Finally I hot glued the flowers to the center of the hearts. Here I used red pom-pom trimming to hang them from.

Valentine Gift Wrapped Box

Here is a fun idea for a centerpiece, mantel decor or actually a gift you might give this Valentine’s Day to your sweetie, best buddy or even your Mom.  

What you will need:

• Canvas Corp 12 X 12 Red Burlap Sheet
• Canvas Corp Paris Fabric Panel
• Canvas Corp 12×12 Pink and Ivory Ribbon Stripe Paper
• Kraft wrap
• 3” wide Canvas pieces
• twine
• small paper doily hearts
• a wooden button
• red thread.

If you’re like me, you love being creative with your gift wrapping, that’s half the fun. With this, I first wrapped my gift with Kraft paper, and then I used two separate pieces of the 3” wide canvas to wrap entirely around the box. I then used twine to wrap around and tie.

I made fabric flowers with the Red Burlap and Paris Fabric. You can find floral templates online or you can use the many Burlap Flowers Canvas Corp has to offer. I then made paper flowers out of Pink and Ivory Ribbon Stripe paper. With a hot glue gun I glued the flowers to the top of the gift. For some finishing touches, I added small paper doily heats and wooden buttons to the sides. Happy wrapping!
