August Challenge “Let’s Visit the Cinema”

Cinemas & Movies – so many memories, so many heart-stopping moments. Heroes and Heroines, soundtracks, gorgeous people, popcorn, holding hands, darkness. There is no limit to what you can do with this month’s challenge!

To enter this challenge you need to link up your entry  Blog post, or post on Instagram, Facebook or Pinterest (link to the actual project – not the whole page) by using the linkytool below. You have until the end of September 5 to submit your project!  All submissions must have #ccbchallenge somewhere to be considered.

We will invite the winner of the challenges to be our Guest Designer in October. This means that they will get a box filled with goodies from all 3 Canvas Corp Brands to play with! 

We asked  Monica Taylor, Beth Byrd, from the Canvas Corp Brands Crew made these samples using Canvas Corp Brands products. If you are not familiar with the Crew, they are a part of one of the most dynamic, creative, positive, inspiring, world-wide design team in the industry. 

Monica tells us: My inspiration for this card was the movie “Pride and Prejudice.” I used two quotes, one on the outside of my card and one on the inside from the movie. There are many great quotes in Pride & Prejudice. This one is one of my favorite. The Parchment Rub ons make a great background and have a great vintage feel to them. Because the Parchment Rubs are see through, many products work well with them to create a fun vintage card.

Beth Byrd created three mini journals for the August Challenge, “Let’s visit the cinema.” She tried to capture the romance and excitement of classic Hollywood and old-style cinema.

This photo shows all three journals. The third one is pure classic Hollywood and features a movie poster image of the film, “Casablanca.” The front features Canvas Corp. Brands Grey and Ivory Ribbon Stripe paper (no longer available) and a panel of paper from the 7gypsies – Gypsy Moments 8×8 paper pad. I backed the “Casablanca” with Canvas Corp. Brands – Black and Ivory Zig Zag Reverse paper and layered that onto the front of the journal. The top features the word “Passion” cut out from a piece of the Gypsy Moments paper.

The first mini journal features a “Classic Hollywood” image that worked perfectly with the 7gypsies – Ordre Du Jour paper. I covered the front and back of the journal with paper from the 8×8 paper pad. I backed the Hollywood image onto a panel of ivory cardstock and glued that to the front of the journal. I placed a strip of patterned paper from the Bo Bunny “Beautiful Dreamer” collection underneath the image. Over that I place a piece of the 7gypsies new Architextures – Iron Fence embellishment.

This little journal features a movie poster image of the 1951 Cannes Film Festival. It follows with that old cinema romance I was looking for. I used Canvas Corp. Brands Pink and Ivory Ribbon Stripe paper to cover the front and back. Over that I layered a panel of Canvas Corp. Brands Black and Ivory – Paris paper, which coordinates so well with the Cannes theme. I adhered a strip of the Black and Ivory Zig Zag Reverse paper which really set off the film festival image.

This layout by Luciana Warnowski is a take on the Cinema topic. Let´s hear what Luciana has to tell us: The theme of our challenge this month inspired me a lot, because my father was a film director in Brazil. In this photo he was still an electrician in the Vera Cruz company of cinema. This movie was called Eva in Brazil. I’ve tried to create a vintage atmosphere according to the photo and the elements in this layout! I tried to work with the vintage atmosphere, the glimmers were perfect to leave the work more aged. I used To & Due paper words, they are versatile for various projects.
