I wanted to share with you my very first project that I have created as CCB Creative Crew member.
I created this “Beautiful Love” Altered Spool using a vintage ribbon spool as the base.
It’s a perfect Valentine’s keepsake and a great gift for that special someone in your life.
Journaling and photos can be added to the spool to preserve wonderful memories. I used some really awesome products to create the Altered Spool. In addition to the vintage ribbon spool as the base, I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and the “A Little Love” paper collection by Canvas Corp.
Karen used the following for her project:

Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists – Lobster, Coffee Shop
Canvas Corp – A Little Love Paper Collection
Ribbon Spool, Seam Binding
Flowers, Charms, Metal Pull, Eyelets
Die Cuts: Beautiful Script, Heart
Sanding Bar, Crop-a-dile, Bone Folder
Hot Glue, Adhesive
Trimmer, Die Cut Machine
Cut “LOVE” pattered strips from “A Little Love” paper collection. This will require 2 cuttings from (1) 12 x 12 piece of paper from the collection.
Using adhesive, reinforce the edges of the far left side of the 1st strip and the far right side of the 2nd strip, using a 1 x 3 piece of coordinating patterned paper from the collection.
Add 2 eyelets to each reinforced edge.
Connect the 2 strips by adhering the strips together and reinforcing with eyelets in the center.
Note: This step creates (1) 24 x 3 patterned paper strip. Sand the patterned paper strip with a sanding bar.
Attach patterned paper to the vintage ribbon spool using dyed ribbon.
Note: The ribbon was dyed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist colors: Lobster and Coffee Shop.
Wrap the patterned paper strip around the spool to determine where to attach a pull to the spool.
Add the metal pull to the spool.
Run dyed ribbon though the eyelets that were placed at the end of the strip, wrap the ribbon around the pull and create a knot to secure the closure.
Add flowers and dyed bows to the top of the Altered Spool.
Die cut hearts using a die cut machine and patterned paper from the “A Little Love” paper collection.
Sand the hearts with a sanding bar and add to the Altered Spool.
Die cut the “Beautiful” script using a die cut machine and black cardstock.
Add the script to the Altered Spool.
Your unusual gift is ready!
You can use the back of the rolled paper to write your wishes, a poem or add some photos… or do all three!
