Cards and Postcards in Three Different Ways

Greetings on a card or just a short message on a postcard are always nice to receive, especially if they are handmade. Canvas Corp has postcards and greeting cards waiting to be altered and decorated with your inspiration and combined with one of the large collection of pattern papers, tags and, of course, Tattered Angels paints.

The following projects made by members of the Creative Crew show us how to create easy and stylish cards and postcards.

Mixed Media Crackled Postcards

Crew member Ina Solsbery used the 12×12 Canvas corp postcard paper to make these warm colors with stunning result postcards.

I was inspired by CCB 12×12 Postcards and created a super easy way to decorate them, so they are “mail friendly ” and can be send for a short artsy greeting.” – as Ina says.

Monochromatic welcome card

Black and white give the best contast on the elements used when only these two colors are selected. Crew member, Kate Dachovska makes a monochromatic welcome card where each of the elements on it has something to say.

Monochromatic welcome cardWhen I prepared papers for my black and white card, I wanted to make simple background for my butterfly but during creation of this card I changed my mind and I made a Welcome Card. In my stash, I found in a small wooden house – really perfect for my card. Sometimes, card making can have a really surprising outcome.” – Kate says.

Materials used:
Canvas Corp – Printed Cardstock – Black on White
Canvas Corp – Butterflies on ivory
Canvas Corp – Cardstock Paper White – 80#
Canvas Corp – 12×12 E-Flute Black
7gypsies –Cling Stamps – Frames
Black string
White ribbon
Black lace
Versa Mark ink
White embossing powder
Black embossing powder
Tools used
Glue
Heat gun

Step 1 – Prepare pieces of different papers, stay in black and white colour.

Step 2 – Optional: Stamp and heat emboss any kind of images you like. Kate used frame and boarder stamps.

Step 3 – Start to build layers, you can also use some scrap pieces from your die cutting. They add more interest to background.

Step 4 – Continue till you are satisfied with all the layers. Combine laces and ribbons with papers.

Step 5 – Finally, add your sentiment. You can stamp it or glue with any alpha stickers.

Step 6 – You can add a small bow made with black string.

Flower Card

From the monochromatic card, Kate takes us to a beautiful soft shades in a colorful card made in a completely different style.

Flower card

Sometimes, I sit over my paper stash and I am missing inspiration; I look through papers and try to figure out what I should create but with this card I had an idea immediately. I wanted to fussy-cut those amazing flowers and use them in a card; a simple but layered card. I wanted to share how to make use of your paper scraps and paper flowers. Everyone can do it!” – Kate says.

Materials used:
7gypsies –Gypsy Moments: 12×12 Board and Room Paper
Tattered angels Glimmer Mist –  Key lime pie
Tattered angels Glimmer Mist –  Electric blue
Tattered angels Glimmer Mist –  Mint Julep
Tattered angels Chalkboard Mist Paint – Chalk
Tattered angels High Impact Paint – White
Canvas Corp – Black & White Life Newsprint

Tools:
Glue
Scissors
Brush
Heat tool

Step 1 – Prepare different papers which you will be layering. You can cut them or tear – tearing papers is really fun. Also cut flowers from patterned paper.

Step 2 – Glue prepared papers onto card panel.

Step 3 – Add some interest to your background for example with floristic material and glue your sentiment.

Step 4 – Add your prepared flowers. Glue them as you wish.

Step 5 – Now, it is time to add some colors to your card. Prepare some of your favourite Tattered Angels Glimmer mists. With a brush, colour the background with Glimmer Mists. If you like splatters, you can make them with Glimmer Mists or Chalkboard or High Impact paints – High Impact is the best for white splatters.

Step 6 – Add some finishing touches, like glueing some clear glass drops and stamping.
