We are really into atc’s right now and this clever DIY wreath is such a fun way to display them. Your wreath is constantly changing with each new ATC you receive and you can move them around to make more room. Choose a color scheme that matches your creative space, kitchen or office and add these mini works of art in a prominent place that will make you smile each time you see them.
One of the first Crew Challenges of the year was an Artist Trading Card swap. I was super excited to take part in the swap, to send off a little piece of myself, and to receive ATCs from artists all over the world. I created this Clothespin ATC Wreath with supplies that I had on hand to hold the cards that I collected during the swap. I chose to work with a mostly neutral palette to let the beauty and colors of the cards really shine. I hung this wreath in my studio and am looking forward to adding to it!

Step 1: Paint the wood wreath base with Crystal Decor & DIY Paint. Let dry. Note: I used a neutral white paint here so that the art work I will add to the finished wreath can really shine. There are 28 fantastic colors of Decor & DIY paint available. Try painting the clothespins a variety of colors for a bolder home accent! Note: you can also use a thick piece of cardboard and make your own wreath, trace two round items and then but with an Xacto.
Step 2: Disassemble the clothespins and evenly space them around the wreath base. Note: I didn’t have enough clothespins on hand to cover the entire wood base, so I doubled my supplies by taking the clothespins apart. The ATCs are tucked between the clothespins rather than being clipped in. If you want to change the color of the clothespins you can paint them with Tattered Angels High Impact or Decor and DIY paints.
Step 3: Use a hot glue gun to adhere the clothespins to the wreath base.
Step 4: Use a hot glue gun to attach flowers to the wreath base. Tie a multi-loop bow of jute cord. Tie a Large Heart Charm to the center of the bow. Attach the bow to the wreath. Note: Even after doubling my clothespins by disassembling them, I still didn’t have enough to fully cover the base of the wreath. I chose to add burlap flowers to fill the white space and am pleased with the bright pop of bold color and fun texture. You can slip the cards in-between the clothespin slats or glue them into place. You can tap a small nail into the wall and hang your wreath or you can add a hanger to the back for a more “professional” approach. We will probably use a nail, we sure need to get a little more professional – but we just cannot wait to hang it up.
