Featured Blogger Angie Holden of the Country Chic Cottage Blog

We are inspired by the world around us and love to showcase new and exciting artist, designers and crafters and our guest designer series is a great way to inspire our Crew as well as each one of you to try something different, show off a new style or help you think outside of your creative box, so from time to time we like to invite crafters to be our Guest Designer/Blogger for a month to challenge us to see things in a different way and so that we may learn more about our products through the eyes of a new designer. This month we have invited Angie Holden. DIY crafts is all the rage these days and we love that so many of our basic products are perfect for simple and clever crafty projects.  Angie inspires & educates us through her social media – showing us DIY, home decor, crafts, tutorials, recipes, transformations, etc….. — all while on a budget and with a farmhouse flair!  Here is a bit about Angie…
CCB: Where are you from?

Angie: Tennessee

CCB: How would you describe your design style?

Angie: Slightly rustic with a touch of modern.

CCB: How long have you been creating?

Angie: I have been blogging about crafts for over 6 years.

CCB:  What is your go to product right now?

Angie: My go to product is always mason jars! I am a true lover! I am also infatuated with burlap right now.

CCB: Do you have a signature touch you like to include in all your pieces?

Angie: No.

CCB:  What advice would you give to someone who gets in a creative slump?

Angie: Get inspired! Browse Pinterest or your favorite blogs to jump start your creativity.

CCB: What is the oddest inspiration you have used for one of your projects?

Angie: I often get inspired by a rusty old piece of junk laying around on our farm.

CCB: Tell us one thing that people might not know about you.

Angie: My degree is in engineering and I just recently quit my day job.

CCB:  How often do you create?

Angie: Daily!

CCB: Do you jot down your ideas before you do them or do you create as you go?

Angie: I usually jot down my ideas. I have so many that I will forget them if I don’t.

We sent Angie a box filled with Canvas Corp Brands Goodies and today she shares how she made this Burlap Flower Wreath.

I wanted a rustic wreath for my front door that could last several seasons. I love farmhouse style so this
burlap flower wreath is perfect for my home.
If you have an old straw or styrofoam wreath hidden in the basement or garage, now is the time to grab it and transform it as Angie is showing us and it will look good as new and your front door will look AMAZING.  If there is not one hidden – grab one at your local craft store, they are inexpensive and you can re-use the base over and over.
We let Angie take us trough her creative process:

Start with the following supplies:

Wreath form

Scrap canvas fabric

Canvas Corp Burlap 8″ Round Shapes (3)

Canvas Corp Ticking Fringe

Canvas Corp Jute Cord

Hot glue and glue gun

Scissors

Start by ripping some scrap canvas into strips. Ripping the fabric gives you that tattered edge.  You can snip the edge and rip and you will get the perfect strip with the grain every time.
Wrap your wreath form with the strips securing the ends with hot glue.  Let the rough edges stay exposed, they look wonderful.
Gather up the burlap circles and secure with some of the cording as shown below to make a wonderful freestyle flower with finished edges.  The shapes are also available in 12″ circles too and in canvas.  So many options.
Work the burlap circle until it resembles a flower and add to the wreath with hot glue. Repeat with three of the burlap circles.
To make centers for your flowers, start with a pool of hot glue on some scrap canvas. Carefully add the cord in a circle as shown below.
Trim the excess canvas with scissors and add the flower centers to the wreath using hot glue.
Use the canvas fringe as a hanger for your wreath.
Hang the wreath on your door and step back to admire your work!
This rustic burlap flower wreath is perfect for anytime of the year.
I personally love the farmhouse feel to this wreath and the charm it brings

to my front door!
