Handmade Christmas Tree Decorations

Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a beautiful tree (or two) beautifully dressed and proudly displayed in the living room.
As true crafters, we wouldn’t be happy if at least some of the decorations weren’t handmade.
Our Crew members – Deb Rauch and Cathy Frailer – share their ideas on how to use CCB products to add the crafty feel to your tree this year.

Folded Fabric Pine Cones – Deb Rauch

Several years ago, I was at a friend’s house at Christmas and was admiring her tree. I saw the fabric pine cone ornaments she had on the tree, and she told me that she had purchased them from a local country store. Well, I never got to the country store to get them, and then I forgot about them. A few weeks ago, I was talking to her and she asked if I ever got them. I said no. So I took a ride over to her house to look at hers, came home and looked at what I had in my stash and went to work… I think I’m a worthy competition hahaha

Deb used the following for her pine cones:
Canvas Corp Natural Canvas

Canvas Corp Natural Burlap
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Tattered Leather
Styrofoam eggs
Craft Pins, Ribbon
Gina Marie Pine Needle Die
Scissors, Hot Glue

Cut 48 squares measuring 2.25″ x 2.25″ out of fabric.

Start by pinning one square to the top and one square to the bottom of the styrofoam egg.

Fold each square in half, then in half again.

Using 2 pins, pin each side of triangle to bottom of styrofoam egg beginning about .75″ from the very bottom. Continue going around the egg. Each row should use 4 squares.

Continue doing rows until you get to the top.

The canvas pine cone I wanted a little darker, so I gave it a light spray with Tattered Angels Tattered Leather Glimmer Mist.

I used a Gina Marie pine needle die and cut different pieces of pine and added it to the top of each pinecone using hot glue.

I then added a loop of ribbon and a bow to finish them off!

Cover a ball with the crackle paste of your choice – I’m using metallic copper for this one. And I use my fingers! Dab and swirl to get different patterns and thickness. Dry with your heat gun.

Now add your spray, paint, or glaze. I’m using Sangria Glimmer Glaze. Let it pool, spritz with water, or put it on thicker in some spots. Totally up to you!

The end result is something totally unique! Mix your sprays into the gesso or paste, use multiple colors, add glitter – it’s up to you!
