Life Was Meant For A Great Adventure Pennant “Gypsy Inspired”

What is a gypsy? Some may define a gypsy as a wanderer and one with a free spirit; others may say it is someone who travels from place to place with no place to call home; and others may say that your gypsy is on the inside and it gives you the freedom to be creative, dance when you wish, laugh at any time and simply enjoy life. Sometimes our lives cause us to forget about our inner gypsy and this wonderful banner will help you remember. You know that Gypsy in you that you have to leave behind every time you go on holidays, a family visit or when you leave your craft room? With Jessica Madaglia’s project, you will be able to take it with you whenever your life takes you and remind you to always be a gypsy. Today, we’re sharing with you a project where, using just a few of our CCB products, including Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, High Impact Paint and Canvas Corp Canvas Banner Pieces and Printed Tissue and with them, you can create an amazing and colorful pennant, allowing you to recreate the boho feeling and a reminder that “Life was meant for a great adventure”.

‘I wanted to make a Gyspy-inspired canvas banner that you can hang wherever life takes you on your adventures.’ – says Jessica.

Materials:
Tattered Angels- Glimmer Mists: Sterling, Party Pink, Bahama Blue
Tattered Angels- High Impact Paint in Black
Tattered Angels- Stained Glass Paint in Aqua
Canvas Corp- Mini Banner Pennant
Canvas Corp- Tissuestock Damask on Ivory
Canvas Corp- mini clothespins (natural)
Canvas Corp- cord, braided rope cream
glue; rick rac (various sizes)’ feathers; vintage flower bead; rhinestones; sentiment; crackle gel medium; foam tape

Tools: scissors; splatter brush and/or paint brush

Layers upon layers make amazing pieces.  Start with simple pieces and add color, details, mist and other touches that create something that is all your own.  Pick your own colors that speak to you and have a ball.  Here is how Jessica put hers together.

Cover your canvas pennant with torn pieces of Damask on Ivory tissuestock using a gel medium. I chose to use a crackle medium here; it adds texture and makes the paint soak through the cracks creating interesting effects.

Once the gel medium is dry, use your Glimmer Mists to add color. Dry with a heat tool. Add random splotches of High Impact Black Paint on the edges using your fingers. Splatter more paint using a paint brush or splatter brush.

Add Ric Rac in various sizes to the top of the pennant. I just glued mine down using a quick drying adhesive, but you can sew it too.

glimmer mist and crystals

Using the Stained Glass paint in Aqua, color your rhinestones. A small paint brush will quickly coat the gems. Set them aside to dry. Glimmer Mist will color smooth, slick surfaces, just mist them on and use a heat tool and watch the magic.

Once your rhinestones are dry, stick them to your pennant. The ones I used had adhesive on them.

Add your focal image and and sentiment. I used a bit of foam tape to adhere them to the pennant. You can cut an image from a photo, magazine or maybe a sketch that you made.  String a piece of corded rope through the slot at the top of the banner and knot on either side. Use mini clothespins so you can hang your banner.

How boho is this pennant?! You can use it as a decoration anywhere in your house. Bring out your inner gypsy and show it to the world!
