How to Make An Autumn Banner - "Create"

Banners can be such a fun way to decorate for any season. Today, Crew Member, Christine Santos is sharing with us her Autumn inspired banner with the reminder to “CREATE” on it. We love anything that encourages us to be creative!

Christine included many gorgeous fall colors from Tattered Angels, as well as some of our 7gypsies pennants and Canvas Corp burlaps. This is definitely a project that shows off just how well each of the three brands work together!

You can choose your favorite Fall colors to make the banner fit your color theme. The neutral products allow such flexibility when designing.

STEP 1 – Color the beautiful Mixed Media Origins paper with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists. You can easily build up & add layers of colors. Alter the Canvas Flower by misting it with Glimmer & Chalkboard Mists, & cutting them to layer on the different pennants. Dangle some Princesca Crystals near the bottom of the pennant for added sparkle.

DIY "Create" banner made with lots of Tattered Angels Paints, some papers from Canvas Corp, and 7 Gypsies banners.

STEP 2 – Cut out different sections from the Open Doors paper & layer them with the beautiful imagery of the Heirloom Printed Canvas Sheet. You can add color on the printed canvas sheets as well with Tattered Angels paint, just like I did with the word “Create” to make it pop.

STEP 3- Cut out images from the Order Du Jour Journal Ephemera pack & layer them on a canvas flower, misted with Tattered Angels paints

STEP 4- You can also easily alter some old flowers from your stash with paints, & in here I’ve used the Barn Red Glimmer Mist. Color & cut out the butterflies from the Mixed Media Origins Paper & surround them to the pennants.

STEP 5 – Insert a Crystal & Vintage Key through the Antique Brass Metal Pin for an added vintage touch to the pennants.

STEP 6 – Thanks to the beautiful ropes & cords of Canvas Corp, it’s easier than ever to create your own textured rope tassels. Simply tie a knot at one end & then fray the long strand.

STEP 7 – 7gypsies’ Printed ATC folders are also great for fussy cutting images to add to your projects. Secure your paper layers with Canvas Corp’s mini clothespins. Don’t throw out your odd bits of Canvas sheets, simply insert them in between layers of your pennants for added texture & interest.

STEP 8 – Fray the Light Natural Hemp Jute Rope & adhere this on the top of the script pennant.

STEP 9 – I’ve altered the large piece of 7 Gypsies’ Princesca Crystal by painting some gesso, then misting it with Barn Red Glimmer Mist & Alaskan Salmon Chalkboard Mist for a different look.
