July Challenge “BEACH, SUMMER, VACATION” – Enter to Win

We enter into summer with a challenge we are all very excited about…”Summer at the Beach.” Whether you have been to the beach, live by the beach, plan to travel to the beach or just love the beach, this is the challenge for you.  We are looking for creative projects that remind us of the sand, shore, waves, shells, rocks, mermaids and more.  The colors for this challenge are the softer side of the beach with blues, turquoise, naturals and whites.  Mixed media art, layouts, trays, crates, banners, cards….your art your way. Just stick with these colors, add a little beach touch and you are good to go.  

Every challenge has a great prize and this one is no different.  Feast your eyes on all these goodies from 7gypsies, Tattered Angels and Canvas Corp that were gathered by the Crew for you.  

Our 3nd Challenge this year is all about the Water, Summer & Vacation! Most people love the summer and look forward to the summer vacation with joy. We would love to hear your story – what is special about summer where you live? Do you travel or stay at home to enjoy the local surroundings? Do you go to the beach or do you favor a pool?  Tell us – what is summer and vacation to YOU! Share a memory or a dream.  Or just create with inspiration from the pictures in the moodboard. To participate all you need to do is link up your project using the linky tool at the bottom of this post.

Challenge Guidelines:

Type of project: Mixed Media Art, Repurposed Find, Scrapbooking Layout, Art Journal, ATC card, Cards, Sew something or make other off the page project….basically everything is  allowed in this challenge!!!!

Your project MUST have a connection to the word Beach, Summer and Vacation in some way.

Consider adding found objects with a beach or summer feel, natural objects found at the beach or by the water like shells, drift wood or dried foliage.

Colors: You need to use the color shades in the mood board pictured above. Tans, Blues, Yellows, Corals, Creams, Whites – White and black are allowed as compliment.

I added my vintage style with some mixed media on layout made ​​to the public challenge of July .
For this layout , I was so inspired by moodboard I also realized . A summer inspiration, an invitation to travel and relaxation , with the theme the sea.

Mandy used the new Mixed media origins paper ‘tides’, a 12″x16” Canvas, Glimmer Glam in Caspian Sea, Tail Fin, and Blue Topaz, Glimmer Mists in Crushed Shells and Maya Blue, Chalkboard French Vanilla, Patina, Verdigris. Burlap flower in aqua.

Kim Rippere

Kim says – “I started this with a store find that was heavily discounted because it was imperfect…in all the right ways for the beach art I wanted to make!”

I found one old white wooden venetian blind and that become a memo board. I have used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Roll Top Desk and Woven Burlap, and Glimmer Glam in Caspian Sea.

Ava Gavlovski

Ava used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in True Turquoise, Limeade, and Sugar Maple, and Glimmer Glaze in Blue Oasis. Burlap and corrugated white paper was used along with Nautical Sayings on Ivory CCP2805.

Christine made a Sun, Sand, Beach Layout. Canvas Corp materials: White C-Flute Paper, Nautical Words Paper; Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists: Dragonfly, Marigold, Crushed Shells, Gold; Tattered Angels Chalkboard Mists: Chalk, Splash; Tattered Angels Mistable Papers: Textured Vinyl, Corduroy.

“This is a Mini Album-Kaleidoscope. The box  mesures 7 * 7 * 7 inches. Inside the 3 pictures that are changing by the side handles (need to twist). I use the sprays Tattered Angels “Stone GM” and “Gold GM”, Stained Glass “Aqua”, and many many seashells…”

“We love travelling to beach resort and most of the times, we will pick some seashells back from the beach. I will usually add the seashells into my projects. So here’s one on a jewelry/trinklet box.
Had loads of fun with Tattered Angels Decor & DIY paint and Glimmer Mist.
The little tag was made from a stamp from Canvas Corp Stamp Set Be Beautiful”
