St. Patrick's Flower Backdrop

Lucky St. Patrick’s Day Party

Feeling lucky? Well we sure do, with this beautiful St. Patrick’s Day Party display that crew member Alison Osborn designed. We’re over the rainbow with her color palette! Alison shows you how to use all the colors of the rainbow to spread your St. Patrick’s Day cheer.

If you’re ready for spring like me, then you’re ready to be surrounded with bright, beautiful colors. Canvas Corp’s printed cardstock papers are the perfect way to make a fun St. Patrick’s Day party display.

For the banner cut 8, 5.5×6 inch pennants out of Canvas Corp’s Lime Green and White Clover. This paper is adorable, the perfect shade of green. Next, cut about 3 inch wide shamrocks from each of the colored papered stocks. In total, I cut 2 of each color, 8 for the banner and 8 for the bottle décor.

For the fringe at the top, you cut 2 inch wide by 5.5 inch long strips of the green ticking fabric. Then fold each strip in half, while securing with hot glue. Next, fringe the looped edge with scissors. Then with hot glue, attach all your elements onto the pennant.

The rainbow tassels are made with the six colored cords listed below. Cut about 12 inch strips of each cord. Then gather together evenly and fold in half. Next, taking an additional 3-inch piece of the green cord, wrap around the looped end, about an inch down and secure with glue. Finally trim the bottom of your tassel to make a clean edge.

Not only can you use these cute tassels for garlands, but also for decorating goodie containers. I used milk bottles with colored candies and tied tassels to the tops.

The flowers are made with a 12 petal template, 6 medium, 6 small, except for the orange flower that has 18 petals. I sketched this template out myself, but you can find many large paper flower templates online. On an average, I used about 3 sheets of 12×12 Printed Cardstock for each flower.

For the rose paper flowers, I did the same technique that I have in the past, just at a much larger scale. I use a full 12×12 piece of cardstock. Starting at the outside of the circle make a long continuous spiral cut to the center. Then begin rolling up the spiral paper from the outer edge of the original cut. Glue the very end of the spiral to the base of the flower with hot glue.

The “Lucky” can be cut out from a die cutting machine, like a Cricut or Silhouette Cameo. You may also be able to find letters at your local craft store. For this, I lettered Lucky onto gold paper and cut it out with my X-Acto knife. I attached the flowers to an old frame that I spray-painted white.

You can add many objects to your party displays. I love decorating with bottles. These green bottles are seltzer water bottles for a $1.50, can’t beat that. Using those additional shamrocks you cut out, hot glue to the ends of floral wire and display them in bottles or potted clover plants. I also took chocolate coins, and attached them to floral wire as well.

Supplies you’ll need:

Tools used: Hot-glue gun, scissors and x-Acto knife

Wishing you a wee bit O’ luck and fun this St. Patrick’s Day!
