Mata Hari inspired Mixed Media Art Board

Today Crew Member Christine Santos shares her Mixed Media project inspired by our September Challenge “Mata Hari”. If you haven’t yet entered the challenge, please jump over to this post to learn everything about it.

Christine tells us:  The Mata Hari in my eyes is every bit artistic, especially her style and the way she carries herself. These aspects have inspired me to create a mixed media Artboard with 7gypsies’ Architextures range. Touches of jewels, sparkle and golden shine adorn the artboard, much like the Mata Hari. Her statuesque presence is also the inspiration with the Weathered Statue which is the focal point of this piece.

One use of the Architextures Artboard, and I’m hooked!

Step 1

Prime the Architextures Artboard with a thin layer of gesso. Adhere an uneven and distressed piece of Floral Guide Paper at the right side of the board. Fussy cut the vintage frames from the Ornate Frames paper and layer this on the top right side of the board.

Step 2

Cut out the rays of the Architextures Sun Short Base and adhere this under the fussy cut frame. Mist the rays with Tatttered Angels’ Gold Glimmer Mist and let dry. Adhere the gorgeous Weathered Lady Statue treasure on top of the fussy cut frame, then build the flower cluster beside it. Add some stenciling and misting on the white spaces of the Artboard and let dry.

Step 3

Add some bling beside the fussy cut frame and sprinkle some glitter around it. Cut some bits and pieces of the Triangle Grid Tall BAse and a piece from the Library Junque Pack and adhere them on the left and right side of the Artboard.  Rub on some images and a statement on the white spaces with the Architextures Build Parchment Rub On. They are so fun and easy to use.  Finish off the Artboard by adding some International Coins Treasures, beads, and splatters.
