Scrapbook Page using Architextures and Tattered Angels

Hi Crafters!  Connie Hall here with a distressed scrapbook page tutorial using the fabulous Architextures paper and Tattered Angels Mists.

I created this mixed media scrapbook page using a picture of my then-boyfriend/now-husband and I at an old time photo booth at Canada’s Wonderland. I worked in a gift shop there one summer. On the weekends, we would ride the rides and see the concerts at the park.  I wanted to scrapbook those photos for a while and, when I finally found the perfect paper for it, I sat down to work. The Achitexture paper is nice and thick and holds mixed media pastes and mists very well and looks wonderful even when distressed – what better base for my project?!

I will share with you how I created this page in this step by step tutorial:

Step 1.

I gather all the supplies that I think I will use, of course there are twists and turns and sometimes I change my mind but that is part of the process.

Step 2.

I prepped the Canvas Corp screen printed cardboard by applying a coat of gesso. I covered the entire cardboard.

Step 3.

I took the patterned paper and Traced the area I was going to put the picture and the matts.

Step 4.

I then applied a random coat of modelling paste with a dot stencil.

Here is what the paste work looks like.

Step 5.

I glued the doilies down with liquid glue.

Step 6.

I began to apply the glimmer mists going from light color to dark color. Boogie Board , Teal High Heel and Navy Blue.

Step 7.

I decided to distress the paper by tearing the top left corner and then I used my paper trimmer to cut slashes along the lines of the wood.

Step 8

I curled back the top layer of paper on the cardboard and rolled back papers but left some of the clocks visable. I applied a coat of gesso to add more texture. I also added another layer of doilies without  mist.

Here is a close up of the distressing.

Step 9.

While everything is drying, I worked on the mats for the photos. I used a sage burlap and a patterned paper from the Architextures Mix and Match Book .

Step 10.

I also cut strips for banners from the rose pattern paper and the ivory and black damask paper.

Step 11.

I glued a cardstock on the back of the Hunter Green  burlap and applied square pop dots.

Step 12.

I love the printed canvas that is in the mix and match His and Hers Collection Pad.  I folded the printed canvas and cut a heart shape.

Step 13.

I decided to spray the canvas heart made from the Mix and Match His and Hers Pad with Boogie Board mist.

Step 14.

I played around with the embellishments. Made some changes and some additions.

Step 15.

I added  embellishments from the Architextures Junque Pack – Parlour set behind both pictures I cut them in half and used pop dots to raise them up on page to add another layer and more dimension.  Once I am Happy with the embellishments and Title, I glue everything down with 3 in 1 glue.

Close up of the final page.

I love to scrapbook and add layers and dimension.
The Architextures paper works well with a variety of mixed media and your projects and scrapbook pages will look amazing with the Tattered Angels mists vibrant colors so make sure you give them a try!

I hope my tutorial was helpful and gives you some inspiration to create.

Thanks for joining me.
