Sending greetings with mixed media cards

Handmade cards are always worth making and having at the ready; regardless of the occasion, all you need to do is add a sentiment and you’re ready!
With that in mind, we have for you three very different mixed media cards prepared by our Crew members…

Butterflies – Alicja Staszak

I’ve created a set of three mixed media cards. They can be used for any occasion – birthday, get-well-soon or just for saying something nice to the person you like. To make the colorful background, I’ve mixed Tattered Angels mists with white gesso, than applied some gold with High Impact Paint with spatula or by splashing it. Last step was to cut the butterflies from Canvas Corp paper and mount on top – they’re beautiful! – shares Alicja.

Take Good Care – Beth Byrd

This is a greeting card I created that has a rustic and vintage style. My purpose was to use up some of my older materials and supplies — but I was happy that my card made use of both older and current materials. I tried to fashion a look that is modern with an old-fashioned twist. – explains her inspiration Beth.

Materials Beth used:
Canvas Corp – Stitched Greeting Card – kraft with canvas

Canvas Corp – Canvas fringe ticking
Canvas Corp – Burlap fringe – ivory
7gypsies Serengeti: Maua (flowers)
7gypsies Charms
Ivory Lace Ribbon
Twine

  • I cut out the floral image from the Serengeti Maua Flowers paper and adhered that to the center of the Stitched Greeting Card. I attached a strip of Kraft Ticking to the bottom of the card with staples — it adds a very rustic look! Over that I glued a piece of ivory lace trim.
  • I stamped the message “Take Good Care” to a manila tag and gave it some texture by running it through my texture brayer. I adorned the top of the tag with a piece of Ivory Burlap Fringe. I then glued to the tag to the card.
  • For a final decorative addition, I adorned the card with the heart embellishment from the 7gypsies charms.

Don’t you just love the rustic feel of Beth’s card? We surely do!

Nautical Cards – Steph Ackerman

I love the collage look of the Nautical paper but didn’t want to cover it completely. I decided to showcase some of the elements on a variety of cards. – says Steph.
