Shine On Mixed Media Banner and Mixed Media Card with Glimmer Mist and Goodies from The Crafter’s Workshop

What happens when you grab some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and Glimmer Glam, The Crafter’s Workshop Mixed Media Goodies and a few stencils and add them to canvas?  Something simply beautiful is what you will get.  Crew member and avid mixed media artist, Lynne Foresythe explores with us what happens and shows you in a perfect banner that will remind you that Spring is just around the corner.  The month of February we are Matching Up with TCW (The Crafter’s Workshop) and the only rules for the Match Up is to experiment, play and see what happens and here is what Lynne created when she played with all these great products.  Did you know that Canvas Corp Brands has a Facebook Group = the CCB Collective?  This group is open to anyone interested in seeing what is going on behind the scenes at CCB, sharing projects, commenting, asking questions and just being part of a positive craft group where inspiration is everywhere.  Just click on this link and ask to join today.   CANVAS CORP BRANDS COLLECTIVE GROUP – See you there.

Hi Canvas Corp Brands fans,
Lynne Forsythe here to welcome you back to our month long matchup with
The Crafter’s Workshop

I LOVE playing with products that are new to me….
and the Mixed Media line from The Crafter’s Workshop was just that!!!

First let me tell you a bit about the CCB products I grabbed.  Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and Glimmer Glam is not new to me, but seeing how it works with TCW products is and for those who don’t know.

Glimmer Mist – A water-based dye paint that can be applied with a spray mister or a paint brush.  Glimmer Mist got its name because every bottle has a touch of mica in it that gives it the perfect spray or mist.

Glimmer Glam – An clear, acrylic based paint that is filled with one or a variety of glitter pieces.  What makes this paint very unique is that the glitter dries in and not on-top.  It acts like a topcoat, paint or tint.

I began my exploration by pulling out The Crafter’s Workshop stencil ~ Moroccan Tiles and
Canvas Corp Brands ~ Black & Ivory Postcards.
I wanted to see how the various Mixed Mediums would handle….
Clear Gesso, Black Gesso and Light and Fluffy Modeling Paste.
I did have a bit of seepage with the Gessos but that is to be expected of me,
the ultimate messy bessy.

When the products had dried….I spritzed and splattered the paper with
various Tattered Angels products.
I love how the shimmer from the Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist
showed up on the Black Gesso.
The Light and Fluffy Modeling past PLAYED WELL with the Glimmer Mist.

….and I fell in love with the Clear Gesso.

Since I LOVED how the Clear Gesso worked, I decided I wanted to try it on a piece of
Canvas Corp Brands ~ Canvas Fabric using
The Crafter’s Workshop ~ Stencil Swirly Garden.
When dry, I again spritzed with Tattered Angels ~ Glimmer Mist and splattered
on a bit of Glimmer Glam.
I fell in LOVE the Clear Gesso even more!!

So much so, I stopped all experimentation and let my creativity flow…..
This is what I made with the piece of colored canvas.

I unravelled a bit of of the CCB Canvas Flower ~ Ticking Yellow
and used it as a ruffle on my wall hanging.

I adorned the “downsized” flower with a circle cut from CCB Burlap
and a vintage earring.

I painted a bit of Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam on the  blue CCB Mini Clothespin
(to make the colors match) and attached them to the Hemp Jute Rope ~ Light.

The Glimmer Glam will adhere to any surface, even a finished surface.

I finished off my wall hanging with a stamped quote.  You can also stamp directly onto the canvas with a permanent ink if you want to give that a try.

Now….that my creative urge was fullfilled I went
back to the paper I had experimented on.
I splattered the paper with TCW Gold Gesso
and cut it 5″ x 7″ and distressed the edges…a card in the making!

I pulled out the rest of the goodies in my DT box and
using a flat brush I randomly painted a bit of TCW Gold Gesso on
CCB White Flute and then spritzed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist ~ Lox.

I cut a heart from CCB Kraft Cardstock, distressed the edges
and painted on a bit TCW Gold Gesso.

I traced around one of the TCW Clear Gesso stenciled images,
with a Sharpie cut into a slightly smaller heart.

Lastly, I pulled out a piece of CCB Spring Showers: Spring Flowers Reverse on Ivory
and painted the flowers with Tattered Angels ~ Sun Sisters
and the leaves with Tattered Angels ~ Emerald Green.
Do you see the dots of TCW Gold Gesso in the centers of the flowers?

Here are photos of my Mixed Media Card….

To use the Glimmer Mist as a watercolor simply shake, pour into a small cup and apply with a brush.

Save everything, even the strings from the flower and add them behind the painted flowers to give a rustic, handmade look.

Adding a sentiment when you are done is a wonderful way to say what you want to say and then you can give your finished goodie to someone with a special message.

Wonderful! I love the bright colors! I’ve used Tattered Angel’s Glimmer Mists and 7 Gypsies products, but I haven’t tried the canvas or burlap yet. Now I’m excited to try. Thanks for the chance to win! #tcwccbmatchup
