St Patrick’s Day gift – Clover Mason Jar

We may not all be Irish but St Patrick’s Day gifts can be so much fun! With a variety of Canvas Corp paper collections and Tattered Angels paints, you can create delightful, vibrant and themed gifts for anyone and everyone. Today, our Crew member, Donna Bowman, shares with you how to make mason jars – fill them with chocolate coins and a small gift for your Irish friend is ready.

‘This is a fun and easy St. Patrick’s Day Mason Jar Craft. I started by watercoloring in the clovers on a Canvas Corps 12 x 12 scrapbook paper using several Tattered Angels products. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do but, by the time I had finished my coloring, I had decided to decorate a mason jar. When you fill the decorated jar with some chocolate gold coins, it’s the perfect St. Patrick’s Day gift.’ – says about her project Donna.

Materials used:
Canvas Corps – 12×12 Paper – Heirloom Collection: Good Luck on Ivory
Canvas Corps – 12×12 Burlap Sheet – Natural Burlap
Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze Paint – Parsley
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – Leap Frog
Tattered Angels Baseboard Mist Paint – Leaf
Canvas Corps – Cord – Hemp Rope Avocado
Canvas Corps – Jute Rope Cord
Stampin’ Up – St. Patrick’s Day Stamp
Ranger – Library Archival Ink
Mason Jar

Tools:
Windsor Newton – Watercolor brush
Fiskars – paper cutter and scissors
Hot glue gun
Spellbinders – circle die, heart die
Big Shot Die Cutting Machine

Here are the steps Donna followed to complete this project:

Color in the clovers using three different Tattered Angels mists and paints – Leap Frog Glimmer Mist, Leaf Baseboard Paint, and Parsley Glimmer Glaze.

Cut a 2inch strip of burlap from a burlap sheet and cut the clover paper to 1.75inch strip. Use hot glue to attach them to each other and then to the mason jar.

Die-cut a circle over one of the large clovers to put on the lid.

Attach the die-cut circle to the lid with hot glue.

Dye a piece of rope using  Parsley Glimmer Glaze; cover it with the Parsley Glaze and wait until it is dry. When dry, adhere it to the lid with hot glue.

To finish it off, stamp St. Patrick’s Day stamp on on a tag using Archival Ink in Library and then ink the edges. Attach it to the mason jar with Canvas Corp Natural Jute Rope Cord.

Make a couple of clovers to use as props my photo and additional fun embellishments. Use a scrap piece of Hunter Green burlap and die cut three hearts.

To make the clovers, glue the tips of the hearts together with hot glue; cut a short piece of the dyed green cord and hot glue it to the hearts to make a stem. These are really fun and easy to make.

OMG. Totally love this. Make such a unique gift. My newphew’s birthday is on St. Paddy’s day…hmm, I could knock two celebrations with one cool gift like this one.

This is such a clever idea. love how Donna used the mists and paints to color in the clovers on the Burlap Sheet. They turned out so vibrant!! And I can see so many uses for the jar, too. Wonderfully done.
