Hello everyone! It is my turn today to reveal my #RACCBmatchup project to you. I must say, I was very excited to be able to join the collaboration and create with Relics & Artifacts and Canvas Corp Brands products. The theme “Something old, something new” made me think about the life cycle and how we develop and grow as persons. I ended up doing some quote research and found a few good ones which gave me a basic idea on how I wanted to proceed with the materials I had been given. It was very soon clear to me that I wanted to make a little table display that you could look at from all sides and always discover something different. In my book the good is at the front, the negative at the back and in between are quotes/notes on how to view life in general. In the following you can see how I created this piece from start to finish:

While the iridescent paste was drying I started rolling paper rolls from the 7gypsies Architextures papers and cutting them into form. After that I applied a layer of Turquoise Blue and Aquamarine Glimmer Mist onto the canvas pieces (all sides!)

Step 4

While the misted canvas was drying, I took some wooden buttons and attached plastic buttons onto them with gel medium. This needs a relatively long drying time so I let them dry overnight. While the buttons were drying, I treated a metal crown with white gesso to cover the pre-made decoration as it didin´t match my project in my opinion.

Step 5

After the canvas pieces were dry, I removed some of the canvas on the back and kept those pieces for later. Then I colored the wooden parts with the same Glimmer Mist tones I had used previously. Glimmer Mist looks so good on wood!!

I also added some gesso here and there for a more altered look. Finally I adhered burlap pieces inside the open areas to create backgrounds for my planned decoration.

I cut some pieces of the 7gypsies Architextures paper into right size and decorated those with Nuvo Drops Antique Rose tone. After they were dry, I adhered them onto the burlap pieces.

Step 6

Next I moved over to adhering the paper rolls and the Glimmer Glam toned crown (Luck O´ the Irish-tone) onto the top of my display piece. I again used gel medium for adhering as it will guarantee that the paper rolls really stick to the surface and stay there.

It again needed a drying time, so I had to leave the piece like that overnight again.

Step 7

But I still could proceed with creating as I had some fabulous Relics & Artifacts pieces to decorate. So I misted them with various tones of Glimmer Mist, depending on which parts I was working on (see the material list for the used color tones!).

After the first layer was dry, I applied some High Impact paint and Glimmer Glam for additional detail an even gave the scull some pearl eyes.

Step 8

I adhered some of the residue canvas strips onto the surface with a fabric glue and decorated both the front and the back parts of the display with the colored Relics & Artifacts pieces and some pearls and canvas as well as paper pieces. Next I adhered the wooden buttons to the side (these together with a golden rubber band work as a “lock”, when the piece is closed). Again I needed to let the gel medium dry properly before moving over to decorating the inner parts of the display.

Step 9

While the back and front pieces were drying, I took some Relics & Artifacts Spirit Treasures and attached them to metal chains. Next I gave them a good layer of Baseboard and Chalkboard mist and let the mist air dry.

After the first layer was dry, I added some more color, gesso details as well as a compass and burlap wings to one of the pieces. I then attached some metal studs to the background and let those dry properly again. The old domino stones work as “feet” for my display and I adhered them also with gel medium to make sure they will not fall off. Finally when all parts were dry, I could hang the chained pieces into the empty areas. I used the drill here again. That way they will for sure not fall off at some point.

Step 10

Finally I printed some quotes with my black and white printer onto a piece of white paper, misted the piece to make it look older, more worn and fussy cut the quotes to finish off my display piece.

I really enjoyed working on this piece so much! These two manufacturers are truly a perfect match. The mists work so well together with the cast pieces!! Thank you for coming over and taking a look at my project, hope you got inspired!!! xxx, Sanna
