How many creative weddings have you been too lately where all the time is taken on the special details and yet they have a store bought guest book for everyone to sign or wedding album for everyone to flip through? We say out with the store bought, gold foiled books and onto a handmade books that set the tone of the entire event. You can make the pages removable so you can fill in a few at each event, decorate the front and the pages to coordinate with the wedding, leave room for photos and notes and you will have the guests in awe.
Telling a love story through the creative eye of Cherry Nelson using Canvas Corp Brands products. Cherry walks you though the steps with a 7gypsies tabbed album. First comes the love story…the proposal…the ceremony…and don’t forget the wedding cake! Last but not least the “honeymoon”…..and all because she said “I DO”. Using lots of textures, neutrals, and dimension to create a piece that the bride will forever cherish.
Tools Used: Hot glue gun; Chalk paint
Begin by painting your 7gypsies tab album with paint. I used white chalk board paint and distressed. (Note: You can use Tattered Angels White High Impact or Crystal Decor & DIY Paint – both work similar to a chalk paint and you will love the results)
When creating a mini book I always do the front first…it sets the tone for the theme. Using the 7gypsies Harmony ephemera mixed perfectly with vintage accents like my old gold frame, flowers, lace and ribbon.
Birds and Wings are great accent pieces for a wedding project
My second page carried the story along with the next step towards marriage….falling in love, thus “the love story”. The wings are a great tone for setting the new couple free.
Add dimensional pieces the book the rings allow for the thickness between pages.
The third page in the book is all about the engagement using file folders, hand stamping, 7gypsies garland tags…..”did she yes”????
Add texture and layers in neutral colors to put a focus on the purpose of the page.
Next comes the “ceremony”…..and the ” I dos”
Layers of vintage wedding cake art and ads look great together in a wedding album.
Of course you can not forget the wedding cake ….using CCB wedding cake tags to really set the theme. Mixing 7gypsies and Canvas Corp together along with other bits and pieces creates a great eclectic look.
Slip and envelope behind the art to house photos or tickets from the honeymoon.
Last but not least….nothing says “I DO” like pledging to be with someone today, tomorrow, and forever! Which brings us to the honeymoon. Memories to last a lifetime!
Ribbon, Lace, Keys, tags and other white accessories give the feel of a wedding and the bride and look amazing on the front cover of the book.
I always tie my ribbons at the very last to keep it simple for me to access each page.
Add ribbons that coordinate with your theme either neutral or pull out the wedding accent colors.
So if you have a wedding coming up and are looking for DIY ideas you can do to make it special or if you want to make a gift for someone special that is getting ready to tie the knot, why not create a wedding book that can be used for a guest book. wedding journal or add photos at the end and make it a photo album? This memory will keep the wedding and the memories alive.
