Today we begin a monthlong collaboration with Relics & Artifacts. Each design team member received blanks from Canvas Corp Brands and an array of Tattered Angels “colors” along with products from Relics & Artifacts. First up we have Crew Member Shannon Green. Shannon shares her journey creating an Ancient Soul Artist Book. But before we get started, let me introduce you to our fellow matchup partner.

As mentioned previously first up we have Crew Member Shannon Green with her FABULOUS Ancient Soul Artist Book.
coffee dye is fantastic on both burlap and canvas and leaves one of a kind age spots we love.
Shannon’s Thoughts
When I saw the supplies that were chosen for this match up, I instantly knew I wanted to make an artist book that was not just vintage but ancient looking. This was very easy to achieve with lots of strong coffee! I used it to dye the canvas book, the colored burlap, the vintage pennant, and the Relics & Artifacts pieces I used.
Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze and Glimmer Glam added just the right amount of color to my paper beads while also providing them with a protective sealer at the same time.
Throughout the book I used product packaging as decorative elements and collage pieces. This piece of Architextures packaging has wonderful vintage images on it but it also provides a sturdy backing for the heavy resin pieces on the other side of the page.
Tattered Angels paints as well as Faber Castell’s Pitt Big Brush Pens are perfect for adding touches of color to the Architextures adhesive embellishments.
I used a sewing machine to attach the coffee dyed colored burlap panels to the existing canvas pages of the book.
Coffee dyed paper provided the background for the dyed pennant and the product tag that came with it.
Gel medium decals made out of 7gypsies scrapbook papers are transparent enough to allow the coffee dyed canvas to show through.

This book took a little time to finish but nothing about it was difficult at all. A lot of products were “tortured” for the sake of art and I’m happy to say they not only withstood everything I did to them but the results are even better than I hoped for!
