I live in a small town – Milton, Wisconsin, USA
Describe your design style…
I really cannot categorize my style. I really am all over the place. Nothing makes me happier than lots of wonderful layers of paper and beautiful stuff but I can turn around and make simple cards. I love to try new techniques and new products and also to reinvent the old products.
Who or what do you give credit to inspiring your creativity?
I have always been creative. I started to sew as a child taught by my mother and grandmother. For many years, this is what I did and worked over ten years in a fabric store. My love of paper crafting was started by my friend, Mary. She decided we needed to take a stamping/card making class and that started me down the road of creating with paper – especially making cards. We were just talking this week how when we die, our children will curse us because of all the stuff we own.
Now that I am retired, I am able to explore my creativity and it is so easy to be inspired. I have many friends who are wonderful card makers and they inspire me to try new and different things, to stretch my skills or learn new ones. The internet is a favorite place to find inspiration. I love YouTube and watch it more than I do TV. I learn new approaches to many things.
What is your favorite Canvas Corp Brand Product? and why? Just one please!!!!
I am going to say the Tattered Angels line (I know it is not one product). You can do so many different things with this line of paints.
We asked Barb to share with us her favourite project she made using CCB products.
This is my 4 x 4 canvas. I love the colors on this project, the flowers and the quote.
Do you teach and if so tell us a bit about what you teach, where you go and some of your favorite places?
I do not teach. I love to share my ideas but I don’t want to do all the prep work teaching involves. Unfortunately, I have to drive about an hour to find any paper stores. About once a month, I take a road trip and hit three stores who are luckily within a short distance of each other.
I am the happiest doing…
I am the happiest being able to be creative. Sometimes it does not matter what I am creating. I do love to get my hands all goopy. Every once in a while, I cook which is creative and when I bake my neighbors are very happy because they always get the baked goods.
My favorite place to be creative is at home. I have all my stuff to create with and just work at my own pace. I love to create with friends and try different things but most productive in my creativity is at home.
Tell us one cool detail about your studio or craft space…
I have lots of wonderful craft goodies but it is always a disaster.
Tell us one thing fun about you we might not know…
I love sports – especially Wisconsin teams. (Please do ignore the Red Sox shirt on me in my photo – that was showing support for Boston after the bomb attack)
Share with us anything about your creative life that you feel would inspire others…
I think it is important to create every day. It always makes me feel good. It is a form of therapy. Creativity can take many forms – loving a child, loving a dog, cooking a meal, baking something special, making a card, journaling, etc – it is all a form of creating.
