The mix of great Christmas collections that the Canvas Corp Brands offer made this layout by Marie Johansson just magical.
You might think that December is all white and crispy up in the Northern parts of Sweden where I live. Well – NOT so much these days. I remember my childhoods winters like cold with a lot of snow but to be frank – the global warming has done something to the weather here as well. It most likely will rain during the whole December and the dream of snow will have to wait til January, or even next year. But sometimes magic happens. Sometime we have a white Christmas, like on the photo above. It was taking on Christmas Eve when we celebrate the most and also do our gift exchange. Driving trough a nearby village with -23 Celcius on the scale, sun going down & the red houses – well that is a postcard for sure…
Viktoriya Porechnaya resides in Ukraine and celebrates Christmas in January.
Since most of the country follows the older Julian calendar, our Christmas holiday in Ukraine comes in house on January 7th, instead of December 25th. The Christmas Eve is called in Ukraine ‘Sviaty Vechir’ (Holy Evening) sometimes also called ‘Sviata Vecheria’ (Holy Supper). People usually cook some tasty foods for this evening. There should be at least 12 different foods on the table. Those should mandatory include ‘Kutia’ — the ritual food which is prepared from cooked wheat and special syrup containing diluted honey, grated poppy seeds, raisins and sometimes walnuts. The period from January 7-14 is a festive week, in which it is customary for some people to dress up, visit homes, sing Christmas songs (e.g. Kolyadka), and wish each other blessings.
In New Zealand where Christine Santos lives Christmas means summer.
A Wonderful Christmas Layout – In New Zealand, Christmas means summer. BBQ parties, going to the beach, and the best part is the abundance of fresh strawberries to eat. In this layout is my daughter and niece devouring fresh strawberries by the Christmas tree. They sure worked out an appetite after opening all the presents.
Linda Sandblås Skotheim lives in Norway where it is common to give away candy for friends & family for Christmas. She made these sweet containers by misting patterned paper from Canvas Corp.
Our Gyspy Warrior Lena Holmström really knows how to make trash into treasure. She made this scenery of a Finnish Christmas celebration by using old books she found in a junk shop.
This is my Christmas house. Above the center I have a letter. In that letter i wrote my memories from childhood Christmas. Traditions are important to me. My mother taught me to cook Karelian food and I do that in the same stew that my mother had since she married my dad 1947. I don’t need Christmas present, the only thing I need time with my family. That is the best present for me.
Many of us connect France with fashion and style. Angelique Jarrier tell us more about how that reflect on how they celebrate Christmas there: The star is an important symbol for Noel, a star of light that brings heat into our home.
Here in France, and it may be the case elsewhere in the world, but the interior decoration is as important as the decoration of the Christmas tree. We like to decorate our walls enormously, and put in all the rooms of the house a touch of Christmas. In the kitchen, we will bring out our Christmas tableware, in the lounge good covers with Christmas motifs.
