We love clever ideas that repurpose, reuse or recycle and look beautiful. Erin shows us today on the blog pretty ways to dress up used tin cans. These little herb treats are great teacher and coach gifts, house warming gift or make someone feel better gifts. Flowers are great, but they don’t last very long, these herb beauties look and smell amazing and they are gifts that keep giving. Herbs may seem like a spring thing, but Rosemary for example is really hearty and can be grown and shared all year. Paint your bottles bright and cheerful colors or the color of the season and transform them. Erin shows you how easy it is to do with just a little paint, a favorite die cut and some great paper. For those of you who would love to dabble in DIY projects, but have not taken the leap, grab you die cut machine and a paint brush and give it a try and for those of you who have never tied a die cut machine, you are in for a treat. There are so many great options out there, with different die cut styles, shapes and designs. Choose the machine that works best for you and start DIYing.

I love to take things that are around my house and re-purpose them into something new. Why not turn an aluminum can into something cute, a plant holder or vase?!?
Here is a how to video showing how to make these fun little planters.
I used the amazing Tattered Angels Decor and DIY Paint to cover the cans. The paint gave such great coverage and easy of application, and just check out those colors with 28 different colors available….AMAZING!!!
These are the newest paints to the Tattered Angels craft paints. Perfect for painting on just about any surface without priming or sanding, just open the top and go. Unlike similar paints such as Chalk Paint, Milk Paint and DIY paint, this paint has it all, no smell, good for indoor or outdoor, smooth finish, vibrant colors, will adhere to just about any surface in 1-2 coats, a little goes a long way, easy storage, um did we say no priming or sanding required. Ok so you get the idea, it is a great paint and once you try it you will be hooked. Here are just a few surfaces you can paint on…
tin, metal, glass, finished wood, raw wood, chipboard, baseboard, sheetrock, concrete, terra-cotta, stone, ceramic, peg wall, MDF wood, particle board, fabric, stainless steel, plastic, acrylic, rock, tile, brick….and so much more. Transform old to look new, outdated to look fresh, damaged to look new again, non-matching to coordinate, ugly to pretty….just have fun!!!
I paired the Tattered Angels Decor and DIY Paints with the Canvas Home Brands “The Watering Can: Printed Tags – Herbs”, Kraft Cardstock Paper, and Grey Hemp Rope . I could not resist in using Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme; for those that are in the know! Canvas Corp’s heavy weight paper makes it perfect for DIY projects, die cutting, using with punches, painting and more.
Here are some more shots of these fun little planters. They can be filled with water or dirt, so really they can as as either a planter or a vase. If herbs are not your things, fill them with a little potted plants, flowers, cacti, really anything your heart desires!!
These could easily be modified to be festive for any occasion. Change the colors and labels and you have Halloween, Christmas, Easter, Spring, Fall!! The ideas are never ending with these fun little plant holders!!
I just love the feel of these, like country chic. I have mine sitting on the window sill in my kitchen, something fun to look at while washing dishes!!
