If you’re looking to add a vintage handmade look this Halloween, you will love these fun techniques that are so easy to do. Tattered Angels Paints are the perfect solution when looking for a paint collection that is designed with mixed media projects in mind. Whether you are painting on a new craft surface or doing a halloween decor makeover, Tattered Angels Paints can be mixed and matched to create a variety of looks and styles.
Last year, Kimberly created this witches hat and book using elements from 7Gypsie’s halloween line, Wicked Gypsy. This year, she’s showing us how to create the base of the hat as well as Witch’s boots to create a display full of brews and boos!
WITCH’S HAT MAKEOVER
Start with an inexpensive store bought witch’s hat. Then cover the hat with Joint Compound, formed into a witchy shape and allowed to dry, then add assorted Tattered Angels Paints to create the faux warn leather look.
Begin with a felt or other cloth witch’s hat and cover completely with Joint Compound.
Then accent with Tattered Angels – Baseboard Mist Clay; Chalkboard Mist Iron; Glimmer Mist Tattered Leather and accented with Glimmer Glam Espresso Bean.
DIY WITCH’S BOOTS
Take a Canvas Corp Burlap Stockings, Joint Compound, Tattered Angels High Impact Paint and you have the cutest DIY Witch’s Boots.
These simple steps will show you how to make 3D displays with fabric shapes – our burlap stockings are a great surface to give the technique a try:
Step 1: flip the cuff and stuff your stocking to help shape the boot (Kim used paper towels)
Step 2: prepare a potion of 1 cup Joint Compound to 1 Tablespoons Tattered Angels High Impact Black and blend.
Step 3: good time to put on gloves for this step….with a large paint brush apply to the entire stocking, you will also want to paint the cuff that will be turned.
Step 4: form your boot to have a witch like style and let them dry. You can slip in a bottle to hold the boots upright while drying.
Step 5: Accent with assorted Tattered Angles Paints: Baseboard – Clay; Chalkboard – Iron; Glimmer Mist – Tattered Leather; Glimmer Glam – Espresso Bean
Create a Wicked little display featuring the witch’s boots and hat and adding adding store bought pumpkins that were painted with the same Tattered Angels paints. Tattered Angels paints work great on just about every surface including styrofoam, fabric, burlap, plastic, metal, wood, unfinished wood, chalkboard and more.
