Easter is just around the corner and today Crew Member Elena Matreshik shows us how to create a fun & decorative project inspired by our April Challenge “Feathers”.
Elena tells us: ‘Real spring has come to Moscow! The Sun shines, birds sing and the mood is so perfect. And soon we will celebrate Easter that’s why I decided to create something cute for this holiday. Traditionally, this is a family holiday and each year we get together, eat Easter cakes and beat colored eggs. But eggs want to be in a beautiful rack So!! Let’s have some fun and decorate a rack for these eggs!’
To create this you will need these products from Canvas Corp Brands:
Tattered Angels Chalkboard Mist Paint – Firefly
Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze Paint – Desert Sun
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – Iridescent Gold
Tattered Angels High Impact Paint – White
You will also need an egg rack, white gesso, linen, laces, sisal, raffia, burlap, sisal rope, floral wire, die cut Butterflies.
Elena talks us trough, in case you want to make a similar project.
Step 1 – We need just a half of the big egg rack, so we cut it. Then cover it with white gesso and let it dry. Cover this rack with Chalkboard Mist Paint – Firefly and Glimmer Mist – Iridescent Gold. Dry.
Step 2 – Then we take our linen strips, bend and glue one edge and then form the folds throughout the length. We should make two strips and glue them on smaller sides of our rack. Let’s make two burlap strips according to previous steps and then glue these strips on two bigger sides.
Step 3 – Take a little sisal, create a semblance of a nest and glue it into each deepening of the rack. Then glue the lace around the rack. Take two Butterfly die-cuts and glue them together (just at the center) putting a floral wire between them. Then cover the wires with High Impact Paint – White, dry, then add Glimmer Glaze Paint – Desert Sun on some places. Places these toppers in the center of the rack and at the edges.
Step 4 – Create flowers twisting the linen and burlap strips. Create bows using a sisal rope. Glue them at the center of each side (first – a bow, then – a flower)
