Let us just stop a minute and talk about our Crew. They are a group of the most amazing designers, crafters, diy’ers and artists and we love working with them. We have Crew members in over 25 countries and each year that expands, bringing more personal styles, cultures and ideas to the team. Everyday the Crew interacts behind the scenes with support, inspiration and creative ideas. We have been featuring our Crew this year and it is so fun to tell each story and share a bit about them. Today Leanne Seed is our Featured Crew Member. Here is a bit about her.
Where do you reside? I live in Katy, Texas which is right outside of Houston, Texas. I am a native Texan and have been here all my life. Katy is located near Houston Texas and is close to so many great areas for crafts and antiques.
Describe your design style…. If I had to describe my design style, I would have to say it is shabby chic meets antique. I love very vintage looking works but also love to throw in some shabby chic country elements to my work.
Who or what do you give credit to for inspiring your creativity?… First and foremost I have to give credit to my mother who always has inspired me and taught me to use my imagination. Also, I have a huge art support community that I am surrounded by…I love having art day with friends where we feed off of each others creativity and just play!
What inspires you most today?…. I would say today I am very inspired by all things old and nature. I adore getting lost at a flea market or junk shop and see what my mind will come up with for using found items.
What is your favorite Canvas Corp Brand Product and why? This question is a bit tricky because it is like saying who is your favorite child…can’t pick just one. I love 7gypsies products just because their papers and products fit my design style to a “T”, but I am obsessed with Glimmer Mist. Also, since getting on the design team I have fallen in love with using canvas….so many products….so little time!
What is your favorite project you have created using CCB Products?
Why is it your favorite?…. I love making altered art and incorporating Canvas Corp products in ways people may not think of using them.
We ask that each CCB Crew Member create a 4×4 mini canvas that represents them as an artist and as a person and here is LeAnne’s. Those rusty stars represent Texas for sure and her Live Love and Laugh attitude comes across beautifully.
Do you teach and if so tell us a bit about what you teach, where you go and some of your favorite places?…. I do teach. I mainly teach at retreats and at CKC here in Houston and San Marcus. I love doing altered art projects and incorporating Canvas Corp products into the design. I also do card classes showing techniques.
I am the happiest doing….. any kind of art….be it paper crafting, altered art or painting. One of my most recent joys is actually incorporating Glimmer Mist into my illustration works.
My favorite place to be creative….. anywhere there is a table and some light. I absolutely love to create in the garden when the weather is good – being close to nature is very inspiring.
Tell us one cool detail about your studio or craft space…. Unfortunately I am in the process of renovating my studio. A few years ago our house was damaged during a hurricane, so I lost a great deal of it and the studio was one of the rooms. It is my last part of the renovation and I am spending this year getting it done. One of the cool things I am doing is taking old cabinets and re-purposing them on one of my walls to hold supplies (it looks very eclectic).
Tell us one thing fun about you we might not know…. Hmmm, one thing that a lot of people may not know is that I sang in a band back in the 80’s. Granted it was a local band, but we traveled around Texas and did gigs. I can honestly say I have done every kind of artistic output…signing, dancing, acting, art and paper crafting. Can you tell I love art and to express my self?
Share with us anything about your creative life that you feel would inspire others…. One thing I would share is don’t be afraid to play and have a good time. If it does not work out how you envisioned it turn a different way and you might come up with the greatest project you have ever done. Never let fear stop you from trying something new!
We are inspired every day by our Crew and love their stories. To see more of Leanne’s work visit her cute blog Flipperies and Butterflies
Happy Creating!!!
