We continue our series where we feature a member of the Canvas Corp Brands Creative Crew letting you see a bit inside their creative world, their favorite project and insight into what inspires them. We work with such an amazing group of designers who love to share new techniques, show us new ways to use their craft supplies, try new approaches when working with our product lines, focus on different craft styles and just simply inspire us. We love that our Crew spans across the globe bringing us so many different creative points of view. Our journey takes us to Sweden, where we introduce you a wonderful mixed media artist.
Marie Johansson brings an amazing creative style to the crew where she showcases all 3 brands together in her own distinct way and she does this while raising a family and travel quite a distance to her nursing job where she cares for many and also teaches future nurses with such grace. Marie has been helping us share creative ideas on our blog from the beginning and is such a strong supporter both with her design and behind the scenes. There is almost 5000 between Marie and our corporate office and yet it feels as if she is just down the road as we communicate almost daily both for fun and for creative work. The Crew is not just a team of amazing designers, but we build true friendships that will carry on.
We ask each member of the Crew to create a 4×4 Canvas that represents themselves and their personal style.
“Find JOY in the Ordinary” sums up this amazing mixed media canvas. Filled with vibrant color, texture and dimension that are part of every project Marie creates.
Marie resides in….”I live in a small village in the northern parts of Sweden. Our region is called the Baltic Region and my village Västerbotten, belongs to the county. I live by the coast with the city Örnsköldsvik to the South and Umeå to the North.
Marie’s design style can best be described as…”My style is arty and unpredictable. I love to use many types of mediums and layers on my projects. And I often us supplies in a unexpected way. I often call my style “Punk Chic” – it´s a bit messy, eclectic and yet sophisticated.”
Marie was inspired most to be creative by….”When I stared scrapbooking my big “idol” were two Swedish ladies by the names of Lilo and Åsa. They where locally famous, but has sadly disappeared from the scrap scene. Lilo/Åsa
“This card was one of the 2015 crew challenges. We do challenges each month among the Crew where we all have a chance to think outside of the box. We were asked to make a Valentine’s Card for someone, send it to someone special and share the story.”
“I just love how it turned out – I think mostly because it isn´t a typical valentines color.”
