Glimmer Mist and Bubbles: Painting with Glimmer Mist and Dishwashing Soap

Did the title catch your attention? Right now you might be thinking, “Dishwashing soap? Really?”. It might sound a little out-of-the-box, but using Glimmer Mist with dishwashing soap is a really fun, easy technique that yields some beautiful results! Linda Svendsen is here today to show us just how this technique works. This would also be a great project to get the kids involved with too! Mixing bubbles and paint is a win for any art-loving child!

Materials Used:

Aquarelle (watercolor) paper
Glimmermist: coral reef
Glimmermist:Night B4 christmas
Flowers
Washi tape
Gold paper
Vellum
Pearls and Shine

Additional Tools Needed:

A container
Water
Straw
Fork
Dies

Ever since my daughter used dishwashing soap on a project, I had a bottle of soap on my craft-table. You can see her video here:

So, one day, I was in a mood of, “Let me just try this, and add this, and do this…” You know what I mean, right?! I grabbed the soap and I had a straw on my desk that someone forgot to put away. NOT ME!!

I made the bubbles, misted the Glimmer Mist, and placed some pieces of watercolor paper on top of the bubbles. Voila!
Its super easy and fun to play with! You can’t do anything wrong and you never know what you’re going to get. And if you don’t like how it looks, just add another layer (or two)!

If you leave the soap-foam on the paper until its almost dry you get the best result. If you wipe it off too soon you will miss the bubble-print.

I made two cards with my bubble print background. If you look at the pink one, it almost has a marbled look to it!

What a fun and creative way to use Glimmer Mists! Dishwashing soap is a staple item in most homes already, so go ahead and grab yours and try this out!

For her next project, Linda created this gorgeous purple card with lots of flowers and embellishments.

All the shine from the sequins and the flowers really makes the background stand out. We love the marbled effect that happens during this technique. What a wonderful way to use everyday household items in your crafting! Go ahead and try a few of these! We are sure that grandparents would love to receive a card that the kids made as well!

Thanks to Linda for showing us how this technique is done! If you would like to see more of her work, visit Linda’s blog or Instagram account for more gorgeous inspiration.
