Good for the creative soul challenge – Wallpaper

We love to do exchanges, support our team and do fun things that keep us creating.  In 2018  we want to push our dear Creative Crew into new creative adventures. We want them to push their limits, try new things and evolve their creativity. We decided to create a serie of out of the box challenges that we call “Good for the Creative Soul”.  We have figured out 1 special challenge each month.

In July we challenged the Crew to use a piece of real wallpaper. They could use any technique/material they wanted but it must be 75% CCB products.

Today we share the beautiful work from a few of our Creative Crew Members.

I knew the balloon-themed wallpaper border in my scrap room would be perfect for this challenge, and I had the Gypsy Soul title piece in my stash which went perfectly with it! I loved using the fresh, bright colours with the grey balloons, which were fussy cut and popped up with foam adhesive for dimension.

The finished album is 6″ x 8″ I sanded and inked the edges of the patterned paper after adhering it, then added the distressed, misted canvas pieces and rub-on before adhering the other items.

The balloons come from this wallpaper border which I put up in my scraproom when I painted the room pale grey and staked my claim on it after my son left home!

My angel with wallpaper wings is made from a liquor bottle! The wallpaper sample has a distressed look with an aqua/bluish gray tone and a gold pattern throughout. I used thin cardboard to put the wallpaper wings on and sprayed the back of the wings with Iridescent Gold. The bottle had labels that were embossed onto the glass so I painted the bottle black, then with Patina to have some bluish color show through the French Script tissuestock – decoupaging gave me some some nice folds and wrinkles in her skirt. Her short cape is Compose Your Life embossed paper that was dipped in craft starch to make ruffles and folds. I used the same paper for her back bustle. I made some rosettes from the tissuestock for the back and sides. Pearl string trim is around her neck and on her bustle. I draped Sari ribbon on the front and finished everything off with a spritzing of Iridescent Gold to add some glittery shine. And her lovely chipboard crown was colored with Bronze and Iridescent Gold and topped of with a jewel.

Here is a card I made for my niece’s birthday. I used the Glimmer Mist of blue hues because it is his favorite colors like me. And I added the sunburst baseboard of which I am in love to remember the star. This star is wallpaper. This is the wallpaper that is in my son’s room and it has the particularity of being fluorescent. So she can display this card on the wall and see it in the middle of the night
