What is a junk journal exactly? We like to think a junk journal is a journal made with all things found, repurposed, scraps, favorite things, blank things, printed things, junk mail….you get the idea, truly anything can be used to make a junk journal and you can make a junk journal any size, shape, thickness or design. We see many journals out there that look like standard journals or books, but why not get creative in your journal design, making sure to leave plenty of room for “journaling” As part of the world-wide launch of the new Canvas Corp and Calico Collage partnership, we are releasing an amazing kit on Create and Craft TV on December 6. You can be the first to own the kit and get your hands on this amazing Dragonfly Collection. As part of the launch we have a series of great projects you can do with the collection that we hope will inspire. After the launch, you will be able to buy a smaller version of the set on the CCB Shop site. The Collection will be available right after the first of the year.
This sweet little book measures about 3″ x 4″ and is the perfect size. Made with mini file folders this book has lots of room to fill with goodies, notes and journal entries. Once you make your first you will be addicted and they are so, so easy to do.
Step 1 – Designing your mini book – layer various file folders on top of each other as shown. You can flip them back and forth to have the tabs going in the right direction for you.
Step 2: Binding your mini book – you can make it difficult or do it this quick and easy way – punch two holes on the fold of the file folders (same place on each folder so they line up) and with a needle and ribbon, jute or other thin yard, sew back and forth between the holes, finishing with a knot or bow.
Step 3: Fold your book and add lots of embellishments, notes, journal entries, ephemera, stickers, tags and more.
We thought it would be fun to use this mini file folder journal to hold the business cards of our favorite local vendors – music, food, events and more. They are perfect for business cards, calling cards or jot down the contact info so you have it all in one place, so the next time you have to plan a party, event or company picnic, you have all your favorites in one place. We know that everyone keeps their contacts in their phone, but when you only use them once in a while what a great idea to keep their card and any notes you have so you remember next time you need them.
You can also add a sticky note or two with notes and details you don’t want to forget. You can put a small stack and pull off when you change the notes.
You can make this fun junk journal with the file folder art that comes in the Dragonfly Delight Collection that will soon be available on Create and Craft TV and also in the CCB Shop right after the first of the year. For more information about this collection, you can click on the Create and Craft TV link and stay tuned for this amazing show or look for the release in the Canvas Corp Brands Collective (ask to join today) or on the Canvas Corp Facebook Page.
