Lugging around a heavy purse or hand bag for the smallest of errands can be a HUGE aggravation. Sometimes you want to carry something lightweight, but of course it has to be stylish too. Michelle Wells here to share my solution, gorgeous clutch bags that I made using the Canvas & Burlap Zippered Tote, and the Canvas Ticking Tote by Canvas Corps. And so very easy to make too! With these pre-made zipper bags, the only limitation is your imagination.
For this project I used:
Canvas Corp Canvas Bag-Ticking Zipper Tote
Canvas Corp Burlap & Canvas Zipper Tote
Canvas Corp Canvas Fringe
Canvas Corp Ticking Flower

In addition to the Canvas Corp products used:
Heavy Duty Cotton Thread, Lace, Buttons, Bling Trim
Paper & Leather Flowers, Pearls & Beads
Jump Rings, Head Pins, Eyelets, Brads, Glue
Tools used: Scissors, Ruler, Craft Needles, Crop-A-Dile
Once I had established how I wanted to embellish each bag, I began by adding lace to both totes, using a heavy duty cotton thread, I did a light hand tacked stitched to attach the lace. Once the lace was in place, I moved along to readying the embellishments I had chosen for each bag.
Each bag is unique in their own designs, but I wanted “options” on how to carry each. for the Burlap/Canvas Bag, I went for a wristlet style. Preparing to for a strap, I used my Crop-A-Dile and punched a 1/8 of an inch hole at a top corner, front and back. I then cut a 14-inch section from the Canvas Fringe, and then lengthwise cut in half. After cutting it, I then used the Crop-A-Dile once more, adding 1/8 inch holes at each end of the fringe. Using a copper finished flower shaped eyelet at each hand, I then secured the fringe strap to the base, and set with a large copper finish brad.
I also made sure the “smooth” side of the fringe, was frayed to match the other.
I created individual zipper dangles to coordinate to each bag, and glued embellishments into place to finish the bags.
Cute and practical , and very easy to make. These gorgeous bags are perfect for everyday errands, can hold keys, cash, i.d. even lipstick. And can transition to an evening out too!
