Hello! It’s Irit Shalom and I have for you this altered wooden box made with a love story for life.
For me, romantic love is not the only possible love. I cherish it a lot, but the love of life is the must for the humanity. So I made this love box with hearts connected, but not just for couples in love.
The box was altered from a bare wooden box to this Mixed Media vintage style altered project. I decided to leave it pretty flat as we are going to use it and it’s hard to clean the very bulky box cover. The embellishment cluster is made with layers over layers of die cut E- Flute cardstock covered with more cardstock dies and two main embellishments spots: the chipboard title and the handmade large canvas flower.
Materials used by Irit:
Tattered Angels Decor and DIY paint – Cordovan, Ivory
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – Sugar Maple, Crocheted Doily
Tattered Angels High Impact paint – White, Red, Light Pink, Antique Gold
Canvas Corp E- Flute Black and Kraft
Canvas Corp Red on Ivory cardstock
Canvas Corp natural canvas sheet
DecoArt: Weathered wood crackle mediums, Crackle Glaze
Gel Medium and Stencils
DuSTY Attic Chipboard
WOW! Clear embossing powder
Big Shot Sizzix and Dies – Birch Press, Sizzix, Die- Versions, other
Heat gun
Paint the bare wooden box with a layer of Cordovan Decor and DIY paint.
Don’t try to make it perfect as we are going to add second layer of another color.
Cover the red paint with a thick layer of clear crackle medium and let it dry
Paint over the crackle top with Ivory Decor and DIY paint.
Don’t try to make it perfect as this is going to be a totally distressed box.
Use stencils with Gel Mediums to make the texture over the painted box and, when dry, mist with Crocheted Doily and Sugar Maple mists.
Die cut all pieces using CC E- flute cardstock and other CC cardstocks as shown.
Die cut the large flowers using Sizzix dies and natural CC canvas.
Paint some die cuts with High Impact White paint.
Paint the two heart shaped die cuts with High Impact Light Pink paint and while wet add the layer of clear embossing powder and heat emboss the die cuts. Do the same with circled die cuts painted with Antique gold.
Arrange painted die cuts over the box; glue them to the box with gel medium and mist with Sugar Maple glimmer mist.
Paint the title chipboard with a mix of Red and Light pink paints and then cover with a layer of clear top glaze.
Mist with Sugar Maple over the crackle when dry.
Mist the canvas flowers with Crocheted doily mist and arrange the flowers on the box.
Glue the title/sentiment on the top.
Enjoy your finished project!
Happy crafting!
