Today Crew Member Zinia shows us how to incorporate words, lettering or sayings into your art journal pages in a simple and subtle way that coordinates with you color palette. The letters will show up white with this technique, making them look spectacular.
Here is the look and here is a video on how to get the look.
Not everyone has a huge stash full of fancy supplies to work with. Some of us have to work on a tight budget but that doesn’t mean we can’t achieve great results with what we have on hand. Today I was to show you how you can stretch your supplies and create a magical art journal spread with just a single spray mist.
Tattered Angels – Simply Sheer (choose from a wide range of colors) –Teal(featured color)
White Paint Marker
Tools Used- Small paint brush; A random stencil
After you prep your pages with gesso, use a stencil and roughly brush some masking fluid through it. We want to create some texture on the background without making the whole spread heavy.
Once the masking fluid is completely dry, use a flat paint brush and create and ombre background starting from a very light wash at the bottom and moving towards the top with a darker more vibrant application of the mist.
When the background is dry too, rub off the masking fluid and add some more interest with splatters of color. Then add some more details by scribbling some text with a white paint marker.
You can add as many layers as you wish and the mist will react with each compound a bit differently. You can also try this with seasonal colors and write holiday messages in the color.
