Where are you headed to this year? A new state in the US? England? Italy? Hawaii? Traveling is the big theme this past week with everyone heading out on Spring Break vacation or planning their Summer journeys. Traveling can be an exciting time and yield a ton of new memories. So why not preserve these timeless memories with a mini album like this one created from a variety of Canvas Corp Brands products such as 7gypsies American Vintage and Wanderlust lines. Create the book before you go with nooks and crannies to store all that you gather along the way, even little tickets, a napkin, checkbook or other special mementos or design it when you get back for a perfect fit for all your photos, ephemera and trinkets brought back from your trip. 7gypsies calls them Gypsy Moments, we call them those little things that shape our lives, little unexpected events that happen along the journey, be on the look out and capture them during your travels to truly capture all aspects of your trip, it is the little things that matter.
Today CCB Crew Member Gloria of Gloria Scraps created a gorgeous vintage mini album. She wanted to have an album that showcased all her favorite CCB imagery and accessories. This is a great project that can be used to showcase your own personal travel ephemera. You can mix and match across all the collections and brands to create a one of a kind project. Gloria explores working with printed fabric in this project and we are so excited to see she is a fan. So lets get started and see how Gloria made hers…
I love all things vintage, especially iconic American vintage. I wanted to create a mini album showcasing all the wonderful imagery contained in the Canvas Corp Brands/7gypsies papers! So I created a Vintage Junk Mini Album, suitable for use for travel photos or for heritage photos.
Gloria created the cover with a vintage piece of Canvas Corp Fabric Panel which is no longer available, but there are so many options to choose from when creating your front cover. Printed fabric unlike paper is perfect for making journal and book covers as it will wrap and glue down so easy and looks terrific. You can leave it as it, add a touch of paint or color the entire thing. To see the entire collection of printed fabric panels. We will also introduce you below to something exciting from 7gypsies, 4 new paper pads that were designed for projects just like this one.

Adhesive: Scotch 3M ATG tape, Scor-tape, Scrapbook, Adhesives by 3L 3D Foam Squares, Liquitex gel medium, hot glue, white glue
Tools; paper trimmer, score board, bone folder, ruler, scissors, brayer, foam brush, pencil, glue gun
Below you will find a video Gloria crated to show you how to put the book together and here are some step by steps so you can see in detail how to construct the book.
This is a canvas covered mini which measures 6 1/2″ x 7 1/2″ with a 1 3/4″ flexible spine. You can decide the size that works best for you. The fabric panels are available in 12×12, but only as part of the mix and match pads and also open stock in 13″x17″ so you can decide to make the book to fit the fabric sizes, you can also piece two of them together.
Step 1: To create the covers of this album, first cut two pieces of canvas to 8 1/2″ x 9 1/2″. Spray canvas with glimmer mist and allow to dry.
Step 2: Cut two pieces of heavy weight chipboard to 6 1/2″ x 7 1/2″. Use multi medium to attach the printed canvas to one side of a chipboard cover. Trim the corners as shown. Repeat with the plain canvas and the other chipboard cover. Wrap the canvas around the edges of the chipboard covers. Use strong, double-sided tape to adhere the canvas edges to the chipboard.
Step 3: Create a tab-hinge spine by cutting black cardstock to 6″ x 11 3/4″. Score at 2″, 2 1/4″, 2 3/4″, 3 1/4″, 3 1/2″ 4″, 4 1/2″, 4 3/4″, 5 1/4″, 5 3/4″, 6″, 6 1/2″, 7″, 7 1/4″, 7 3/4″, 8 1/4″, 8 1/2″, 9″, 9 1/2″, and 9 3/4″. Place double-sided tape on the second, fourth, sixth, eighth, tenth,and twelfth 1/2″ sections.
Step 4: Fold on the score lines and adhere the 1/2″ sections together to form six tab hinges. Place double-sided tape on both sides of each hinge as shown.
Step 5: Trim a piece of black Kraft-tex (or black cardstock backed with tyvek) to 6 3/8″” x 4 1/2″. Trim a piece of printed canvas to 7 3/8″ x 2 1/2″ and glue to the Kraft-tex. Wrap the canvas over at the top and the bottom edges and secure. This is the spine of the album.
Step 6: I used a white pen to mark the 1/4″ gutters on both sides of the tab hinge so you can see how to position the hinge onto the back of the spine. Make sure the hinge section is centered on the spine piece and secure with strong adhesive.
Step 7: Flip the spine over so that the tab hinge is facing down. Attach strong adhesive from the 1/4″ gutters to the edge of the spine. The visible canvas spine is approximately 1 3/4″.
Step 8: Trim two pieces of black cardstock to 6 3/8″ x 7 3/8″ and attach to the inside of both canvas covers.
Step 9: Remove the adhesive from the spine section and attach to the covers, making sure that the 1/4″ gutter of the spine lines up with the edges of the covers. Make sure your tab hinge is facing up.
Step 10: Trim decorative paper to 6 14″ s 7 1/4″ to cover the inside covers.
Fill your book with printed pages, envelopes, tags, folders, etc. ready to hold your precious memories. If you do not plan to travel, choose one of the other 7gypsies collections and make it vintage pretty, gypsy cool or just mix it all up and have fun.

So hard to choose which would be my favourite, but if I was forced to say I would vote for Wanderlust-as I went to Italy and Germany last year with my eldest daughter and have still to make an album remembering all of our adventures – like getting lost in Venice – Twice! And we would love to go to Great Britain and Ireland next year, so seeing those lovely images incorporated into a paper pad may just give me the nudge I need. Thanks for the hard work you all do to bring us such wonderful things.
