The 7gypsies Maritime Collection is one of our favorites. The vintage nautical look is so fun to create with and the soft color palette let’s you go in so many directions. Netra created these amazing cards that are fresh and inspiring and make us long for a relaxing day on the beach. Today, Netra shows us how to make 4 different styles of cards using one Maritime Paper Pad. These beautiful cards are the perfect accent to any gift or handwritten note.
Netra here! When I set out to use the Maritime collection, I only had one card in mind. But once I started flipping through the papers and cutting into it, I saw more cards in my future. Each of the paper pads have 48 sheets printed front and back, so you can easily make a set of cards with one pad, what a great gift – you can even make a matching gift tag.
Things you will need:
Maritime 6×6 Paper Pad
Maritime Black and White Tags
White and Kraft Chevron (for the card bases)
White and Kraft Damask (for the octopus card base)
Jute
Silver on Kraft Paper (for the rolled roses)
Maritime Charms (for the octopus card)
White Tissuestock (for the white flowers)
The collection just says, “Take me to the beach, and leave me there”. Since I can not go to the beach at this time, these cards satisfied that need to see the water and feel the sand.
I only had used 4 6×6 sheets to make all these cards. I used Canvas Corp Brands White on Kraft Damask paper in 12×12 to create 4×6 cards. It was sturdy enough to take the heavy embellishments.
To layer a card with minimum papers you have to be creative with the set up. Instead of stacking the patterns one right on top of the other, try changing the direction, using smaller scraps, and popping a few pieces up.
I used Twine and white sewing thread to add a soft and rustic contrast, and whimsical feel. All flowers were handmade using products right from Canvas Corp Brands papers, tissue stock, and the Maritime scraps that I had left.
I used the Black and White tags that matched the line. The tags were designed to be left black and white or you can color them in to match your color palette. I left them as they are and they stand out perfectly on the cards. I left them like that so they would stand out and add a clean feeling to the cards. The pearls are a staple in my card making these cards elegant.
