Merry Farmhouse Christmas Banner

It is time to get the decorations out and the mantel decorated if you have not already checked that off your holiday to do list.  If you have not quite finished decorating and have a need to create, you are going to love this rustic holiday banner Lynne created with the Canvas Corp Farmhouse Collection.  The blend of kraft and canvas and traditional Christmas colors is perfectly, holiday shabby.  Perfect on the mantel, on the front door or even the hood of the stove in the kitchen.

Lynne started with one of the Canvas Corp Mix and Match Pads – a pad of 16 coordinating printed papers, burlap, printed canvas, canvas and fluted paper.  These themed pads have just what you need to create a wide range of mixed media, scrapbooking, card making and crafty projects.   We love how she challenged herself to only use what was in the pad and we love the end results even more.  Lynne crated more than one project with the same pack.  Here is the first of of 3 projects…a shabby chic farmhouse banner.

Hi Canvas Corp Brands Fans!!

Have you checked out the Mix and Match pads??
I was SOOO EXCITED when I got my hot little hands on the
Farmhouse Christmas Mix and Match pad.

It is full of beautiful papers printed on Ivory and Kraft,
along with burlap, canvas and flute,
all in one place! Pure HEAVEN!

I have set up a challenge for myself!

Here are my rules…..
I can only use the papers and textiles that are in the pad
(I am allowed to use minimal
Canvas Corp Brands products as needed)
and Tattered Angels products I have on hand
along with a few Vintage goodies from my stash!

Here is my first creation…..

Farmhouse Christmas Banner by Lynne Forsythe

My Farmhouse Christmas Banner!
I cut 3 graduated banner pieces
one from the Canvas Sheet
one from Red Burlap Sheet
and one from Farmhouse Christmas ~ Patchwork on Kraft (included in the pad)
to create each pennant shape.
I roughed up the banner pieces and paper
to create a vintage look.

I pulled out a bit of vintage trims, crochet and velvet.

For the center banner piece, I tore Merry Christmas from the
Farmhouse Christmas ~ Fabric panel. (included in the pad or available in a larger 13×17 size sheet)
I used 2 vintage buttons, from my stash, as accents.

Here is the other piece of my banner.

I pulled out my Tattered Pinecone die and began cutting away.
I used the Flute Sheet to cut the “fir branches”.
Kraft paper and Farmhouse Christmas on Ivory
to cut the “pinecones”.

I painted the “fir branches” with
Tattered Angels ~ Glimmer Glam ~ Lime Cordial.

I tightly coiled the Kraft paper to create “pinecones”
and loosely coiled the Ivory paper to create “roses”.

I colored the Ivory “roses” by spraying each flower with
Tattered Angels ~ Glimmer Mist ~ Precious Metal,
then I accented the petals with
Tattered Angels ~ Glimmer Mist ~ Red Chillies.

I am a firm believer in “use what you have on hand”!
If it’s not the right color……make it so!
I dipped Petaloo’s Gold Sugared Picks into a bottle of
Tattered Angels ~ Glimmer Glaze ~ Sangria.
PERFECTION!

I took out a piece of
Canvas Corp Brands ~ Twisted Hemp Rope Natural/White Hank.
I pulled all the fibers apart and tied a loopy bow
to accent the ends of my banner,
finishing off my vintage look.

I can’t WAIT to see what I whip up with the
remainders of the
Farmhouse Christmas Mix and Match Pad…..
I think Christmas cards would be PERFECT!
