Travel to far away places can be for business, pleasure or to make a difference. Gloria shares with us today this special little book that captures the memories of this special trip forever. The pieces of the Serengeti Collection that she selected for the book begin to have more meaning when they represent a special moment on the journey or a significant event.
Mission Trip Mini Album
Welcome! It is Gloria Stengel and today I am sharing a project inspired by the Serengeti Collection! I had fun using this collection to create a little mini book about my husband’s recent mission trip to Uganda.
I wanted a small project that my husband, Matt, could put on his desk. Each time he sees this little book, it will remind him to pray for the people and the Church in Uganda. I used the 4×6 Drab Canvas Gypsy Book and the Serengeti Collection to create a prayer and remembrance journal. The addition of the word tiles and the Serengeti elephant charm gave this little book a vintage feel.
To create this project you need:
Canvas Corp Brands Products
Serengeti 12″ x 12″ paper: Mabango, Mihuri, Picha, Wanyama
Hardware: Serengeti Charms, Mini Avocado Clothespins, Mini Jacobean Clothespins
Other Products
Stickers: 7Gypsies Flea Market Mini Labels (retired)
Ink: Ranger Distress Walnut Stain
Cardstock: WorldWin Papers Natural
Wood letter blocks: Bottle Cap Inc.
Tools: hot glue gun
Adhesives: double-sided tape, foam tape, hot glue
Text block: computer generated
This little book contains three canvas pages. I added a bit of the Serengeti papers to each page, and then displayed photos from Matt’s trip. I added some vintage ephemera and used some of the Serengeti Vintage Photos to add more interest to each page. The Avocado Mini Clothespins are perfect for adding extra photos or little notes to the pages.
The muted colors of the papers and the album pages are a nice contrast to the vibrant photos the Matt took during the trip.
I added some extra photos and journaling spots to the back page. Thanks for looking!
When a project like this can evoke such amazing memories and have a daily impact on the recipient of the gift that is such a great inspiration to all those who create to make your next project.
Happy Creating!!!!
About Gloria Stengel: My name is Gloria Stengel and I live in southern California with my husband, 3 children, and 2 feisty cats. My first love is the Lord, followed by my family, reading, and paper crafting. I love creating layered, vintage-themed projects, especially if I get to use vintage Americana, including farm and country images. If I see something with old signage, labels, black and white photos, or something rusty, I want it! Much of my inspiration comes from my Pennsylvania Dutch roots, where I grew up in the middle of farm country with other German Americans, including Amish, and Mennonite farmers. I am a long way from home now, but those days of country living are in my heart.

This is a gem of a mini album! I love the way the photos are stacked in with the papers and ephemera from the collection. What a great way to remember a special trip! It’s beautiful!
