I love the Farmhouse/Flea Market stylings in home decor. Using common and even uncommon items in decorating. Thus is the inspiration for this design. We have pieces of wood from a small barn on our property, along with remnants of wood from past projects. I wanted a simple table centerpiece, but nothing to formal for our dining room. I am Michelle Wells and this is my handmade Modern Farmhouse Mason Jar Box.
My idea spread, and first I made a box for my mother and then for my two aunts. This box, is my mother’s box. Complete with old drawer pulls she had stashed away. I love the simplicity of this look. The jars can be filled with fresh or artificial flowers as I used here. Or simply fill the box with books, candles, toiletries, towels, antique gadgets.
The possibilities will fit into any room and in any home decor.
Materials used:
Tattered Angels Baseboard Spray in Gravel
Tattered Angels Color Wash in White Wash
Wood, Wood Glue, Finishing Nails
Sandpaper, Nail Gun, Heat Tool, Water
For my base color, I used Tattered Angels Baseboard in Gravel, slightly diluted with water, to give a more “washed” look rather than solid coloring.
I applied two coats by brush, letting each dry completely before adding the next.
I wanted an even lighter white wash, so I did the same, slightly diluting Tattered Angels Color wash in White Wash, with a small amount of water.
I also applied this “wash” in the same manner using a brush. Layered in 3 coats, and allowing each coat to dry completely before adding the next.
Once the paint dried, I added distressed handles at each end of the box to finish the look.
Some mason jars with flowers turned this rustic box into a stunning centre piece!
I hope you like the idea! Happy crafting!
