Nautical summer gift bag and matching card

For some of us summer is a step away, for others just saying goodbye. Nautical papers from Canvas Corp have something for everyone to make and keep summer all year around. Crew member, Steph Ackerman shares a project where deep blue dominates and creates an old-time nautical style. The nautical summer gift bag and the matching card make an ideal gift for a souvenir, either purchased or handmade, with a breeze of summer.

“I remember as a teenager heading to the beach with a striped beach bag holding towels, suntan lotion, sunglasses and a book. The Navy Striped paper reminded me of that beach bag. Think how much fun it would be to fill this little bag with fun treats and give to someone with a coordinating card” – Steph Ackerman says.

Materials used:
Canvas Corp – Printed Cardstock Navy on Ivory
Canvas Corp  – Nautical Navy and Ivory Anchors

Canvas Corp – 12×12 Burlap Sheet Natural Burlap

Step 1 – Cut striped paper 12″ x 8″. Score the long edge at 5″, 6″ and 7″ – this creates the bottom. Cut out a 1″ section between the scored lines and accordian fold

Step 2 – Add Scor-Tape along the side edges and gently roll the sides in and adhere the edges. Use a strong adhesive such as Scor-Tape so the bag stays together.

Step 3 – Add a square of burlap to the front of the bag. Cut the anchor paper a little smaller than the burlap.

Step 4 – Wrap rope around the bag an adhere around the bag.

Step 5 – Create a coordinating card in the same manner. Add a stamped phrase on top.
