Looking for a few fun and simple ideas to decorate this fall season? Our Crew shares with us some great ideas and simple techniques that let you transform real pumpkins, inexpensive pumpkins or redo outdated pumpkins into DIY works of art. So many of us have a stash of old decorations or find a great deal on decorations that my not quite be your taste, but the deal was too good to pass up, so here are some ideas to make them your own.
1 – Decoupage Tissue Pumpkin – by Camille
Let’s start with this real pumpkin make over with a bit of tissue, Plaid’s Decoupage, 7gypsies Tissue and Tattered Angels Paint. These Gypsy Pumpkins are so easy, just rip pieces of the tissue or napkins and decoupage them with Plaid’s Modge Podge completely covering the entire pumpkin except the stem, which is painted with Black Tattered Angels Chalkboard or High Impact paints.
Leave the pumpkin as is or you can mist it with any Tattered Angels Mist Paint to create a grouping in fall colors. Jump over to the blog post to see all the details.
2 – Decorated Fall Pumpkins by Erin Reed
Featured on her blog Scraps of Reflections, Erin shows us how to redo inexpensive pumpkins and make them look like a million bucks, you can also hide imperfections in pumpkins that have seen better days. “I love those cute little pumpkins and gourds that come out in the fall. They are in all colors and shapes such as orange, white, stripes, green, yellow, round, squat, and much much more. I love to put them out by my front door, around my house, and on my dining room table – then I thought why not decorate them up a little and make them really shine!!”
Erin shows us how to transform these pumpkins with Tattered Angels paints and then accent them with jute, flowers and die cut pieces of paper to create these great leaves. For a list of the supplies and to see how Erin created these great pumpkins, check out How to Create Decorated Mini Pumpkins by Erin Reed on Snapguide.
3 – Paper Pumpkins by Kim Rippere
Inspired by this tutorial on Split Coast Stampers, Kim created this paper pumpkin using Canvas Corp Fleur dis lis on Kraft paper and a selection of Tattered Angels Fall red color paints.
Stop by Kim’s Blog Craftisan Studios to see how she made the final design. The nice part about Canvas Corp Papers is you can transform them to any color palette with Tattered Angels Paints using everyday or fall themed papers.
4 – Canvas Pumpkin by Jana Korečič
Jana shares on her blog Scrapbook Abundance this amazing canvas pumpkin. Created around a large piece of kraft paper smashed to resemble a pumpkin or you can wrap your canvas around a fake pumpkin – we don’t recommend real, not sure what you will find under that canvas in a few weeks!!!!
Transform the canvas with Tattered Angels Mists or paint brushing it like Jana did or you can paint the entire surface in your favorite fall colors. Using more than one color gives it a realistic look. Layers of burlap at the top is a great accent and the colors look terrific – avocado, grey and chocolate. Create a stem by wrapping jute cord around a paper and glue all together. Add a 31 for Halloween or leave it off and it is perfect for Thanksgiving.
Add painted real leaves or you can paint faux leaves to match your style. You can also die cut leaves from paper and paint them to match. Finish it up with found buttons and snaps, pieces of wire and string and a touch of cheese cloth.
These pumpkins make great centerpieces for the Thanksgiving table, set around the buffet table or make tiny ones and put them on each place setting. The nice part about doing them yourself is you can choose the size, the colors palette and make as many as you need.
Happy Creating!!!
