Halloween will be here before you know it, so we love that our Crew has been creating Halloween crafts! What a great idea to create and share ATC’s for the holidays. Barb is here today to show us how she created these really fun Black Cat ATCs for a swap she is taking part in or they would be great for sending out to close friends, sharing a bit of art that can be put on display for Halloween. These Artist Trading Cards are made on our Tattered Angels Mixed Media Origins paper. This paper is unique in that it is a fabric-like paper that can be stamped on, painted on, sewn with, and even heat embossed like Barb did here. Please read on for step by step instructions of her creative process.
Barb says, “I am doing a Halloween ATC swap with some fellow card makers. As I was going through my supplies, I found a sheet of the Mixed Media Origins – Blooms paper. It was not the beautiful rose that spoke to me but the back of this sheet. It had designs which I immediately saw as the top border on my ATC’s. After this discovery, the ATC’s came together so easily.”

Tools Used: Paper Cutter
Step 1
Cut the Origins paper into 8 ATCs (2.5 x 3.5 inches). Color with the Plain Jane Baseboard mist in Iris.
Step 2
Stamp the cat image and heat emboss.
Color parts of the cat with the orange and green High Impact paint.
Color a strip of the Origins paper then stamp and emboss the sentiment. Cut into pieces.
Adhere the sentiments to the ATCs. On one set I could use the entire sentiment together. On the other set I had to cut the sentiment apart. Ink around the edges of the sentiment before adding then ink the edges of all the ATCs.
Stencil the purple dots onto each ATC. Stamp the circles then color them with acrylic paint. Add clear Stickles to each dot and then a layer of Glossy Accents. A tiny drop of clear Stickles was also added to the eyes of the cat.
Spray a fine mist of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Iridescent Gold over each ATC.
We love that Barb made the discovery to use the designs on the paper as a border for her ATCs. The design works so well with the Halloween theme of her cards. You also can’t beat the color combination of orange, green, and purple for Halloween! If you would like to see more of Barb’s work, catch her over on her blog:Paper Therapy Ponderings.
