Have you played with the Tattered Angels Mixed Media Origins papers? They are amazing. The Angel’s feathers are all aflutter over how durable and sturdy this paper is! If you missed the newest release, there are 12 new designs, each with two sides so there are really 24 new designs to create with!!! – Mixed Media Origins Release. If you have not played with them yet, you are missing out. You can spray this paper all day long with Glimmer Mist, get it all kinds of wet, layer it with texture mediums, splash it with Color Burst, and it will not tear or peel. While the designs are heavenly, today we want to focus on different ways to use these papers. Check out the full line of Mixed Media Origins paper here.
PAPER – So lets talk just about the paper for a second. It is thick with fibers in it but still flexible, it’s hard to tear and has a great feel. The printing is on both sides so you can make books, banners, cards, etc. with no blank sides. If you need a blank paper option try Suede Paper.
DESIGN – There are 24 styles, 2 sided, everyday and some seasonal. All have texture-style printed backgrounds and art you can color, fussy cut, paint over – whatever you want. Use them as a place to start, a place to finish or a background to paint on top of.
The Angels love that the backside is just as amazing as the front…a wonderful grungy look perfect for so many projects such as cards, masculine scrapbook pages, mini books, art journals. All you need is to add color or leave it blank…your call!!
SEW IT – We know that people have been sewing paper for some time with straight stitches, zigzag, sewing fabric and paper together, etc. But how about making something with the paper like this awesome paper pocket with a cuff? We sewed it down one side, zigzagged the bottom and then folded the top over and filled it with goodies. This one is blank, but you can color it up like crazy!
Donna created this pencil case after coloring the paper with the most fun and bright colors ever and then created a super cool case for her pencils and art supplies. This is perfect for back to school, art teachers or just for fun. For all the details on makings this exciting project visit Donna on the Blog.
MAKE A PILLOW – Marie shows us how the paper can be used for Home Decor with these great pillows.
ATCS – Here is a project by Angel Erin Reed showing how easy it is to apply a variety of Glimmer Mists colors such as Sunflower, English Ivy, Snowy Pine, Candy Corn, Pink Poodle, to cut pieces of the origins papers to make cards.
Erin used the Origins Hoot paper for the cards, both front and back look amazing when color is added. How adorable is that owl?!?!
MAKE A LAYOUT – Mandy created an amazing layered, textured scrapbooking layout with the papers. You can paint the papers to a bright finish or a soft watercolor look – your choice.
Here is another layout using the same paper as Erin, but the results are so different. Working with black and white art gives you the freedom to create a project your way, your style and in your colors.
FUSSY CUTS – One of our favorite things to do is fussy cut art. The Origins papers are a great choice as the piece hold up so well, even when they are cut to a thin strip. We love that.
MAKE A BOOK – Mixed Media Origins paper is flexible and easy to work with and can be bent, folded, and scored to create fun books, folded cards and more.
If you think you are not a mixed media artist or you don’t make cards…think outside the box! This is a great paper for any artisan or crafting style. The art is beautiful, the paper is amazing, the options are endless and the end results are spectacular. We would love to hear from you.
