It is the most wonderful time of the year once again.
A Joyous time for Christmas wish lists, and gatherings spent with family & friends.
And while the excitement of gifts under the tree are a big part of these celebrations, I personally have ALWAYS loved what treasure I might find tucked away in my hanging stocking.
An excitement for me, ever since I was a child.
This is the inspiration behind my Vintage Christmas Stocking, created with products from Canvas Corp & Tattered Angels.

Looking to create a simple vintage style stocking, I found the Canvas Christmas Stocking, perfect for this project.
To begin, I started by cutting strips from the Canvas Garland in 3 strips, folded each at the center, and used heavy duty cotton thread to stitch together.
I then followed by hand sewing each folded and sewn strip to the cuff of the stocking in 3 rows.
Using some green braided trim from my stash, I added a bit of frill to the top of the stocking.
Next I added scrap fabric strips in red & green gingham, tied in a small knot, and sewn, leaving tendrils hanging at the side.
In addition, just for a vintage bit of bling, I added medium size bells, attached with gold embroidery thread.
I adore the stocking print featured on the Farmhouse Christmas Printed Canvas Sheet, and chose to use it as my centerpiece for my stocking.
Once I had fussy cut the stocking from the sheet, I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists & Simply Simply Sheer Mist to color the stocking print, applied with a watercolor brush.
Once the color had dried, I used glue to adhere the colored image to the stocking.
The last element that I added was a doily bow that I had also colored with the Simply Sheer spray.
Sewing a vintage button to the center, which coordinated with the green & red festive colors of the stocking.
I sewed the bow to the stocking, and for added security, tacked it with some glue as well.
A vintage inspired stocking, perfect to be filled with many goodies, and to hang on any mantle or shelf for many Christmases to come!
