Altered Apron Wall Storage
I wanted to create a little decorative piece for my daughter’s room, and when I saw this cute little apron from Canvas Home Basics I thought of how those pockets are great for storing things and perfect for a wall decor item!!
Canvas Corp and Faber-Castell have teamed up to show you how wonderful their products go together – and the Gelatos on the canvas apron are perfect!!
I used the wonderful Canvas Home Basics server Apron, Hot pink rope, and Hot Pink flower with the amazing Gelatos from Faber-Castell in various pink and purple colors (Bubble Gum, Lavender, Metallic Grape, Peach, Raspberry, Grape, Watermelon, Guava, and Metallic Melon) with the wonderfully New Stipple Brush in the Tropical collection that was perfect for blending the Gelatos with water onto the canvas surface. I used a punch shapes flower and the center of the flowers, then just kept adding more layers around each center until the entire apron was filled up.
I coiled the ties of the apron around to make roses and tied the pink rope under it, then “painted” it with the gelato colors.
I have all these headbands, bracelets, hair ties, and other little bits and bobs my daughter collects and loves to wear but no good storage solution to find them easily. The pockets of this apron are perfect to hold these little pretties she has.
The bracelets, headbands, mirror, and other little bits all fit in the pockets (and still room for more) and the bows all attache to the sides to you can see them easily. I then added her name in chipboard painted with Metallic Melon Gelato and outlines in a purple pen.
What a fun way to store bows!!
My daughter loves this as it is all her favorite colros (pink and purple), but you could easily make this more masculine with star shapes, circles, and take away the flowers and change up the colors to ones your little ones love!!
I have hung this up in her room on the wall, but it could also work on the back of a chair, side of a dresser or table; the possibilities are endless!!
Supplies Used
Chipboard
Adhesive – Tombow

Follow the Sun – Mixed Media Canvas
I wanted to create a fun canvas piece full of bright colors, I thought it was time to bring out the sun for everyone still in the mist of cold weather (even in April). Seeing bright warm colors just makes you feel happy, and that is what is project is all about – making you feel happy!!
The Canvas Home Brands team to to play with some yummy goodies from Faber-Castell to see just how well they work with the canvas products – and they rock together!!! I started out with a 8×8 Stretch Canvas from Canvas Home Basics and started to play with the wonderful Whipped Spackle from Faber-Castell and some stencils.
I used the die cut piece and also the triangle stencil and texture cards from Faber-Castell to create the layers of texture on the project with the Whipped Spackle. It is so light and airy that it did not weigh the canvas down one bit!!
I used the wonderful Gelatos from Faber-Castell to add in colors the the dried layers of stencil along with some bright colors of cardstock and white flute tiles from Canvas Home Basics. I just kept adding layers of texture and color until I got the effect I wanted.
I then traced all the layers of texture with the Cold Grey Artist pen with the brush nib from Faber-Castell, it was perfect for tracing around all the shapes of the texture. This added dimension to all the texture so it did not hide in the canvas with all the colors, it made everything pop!

Two fabulous projects!
I love the altered mini apron – that is a very inspiring idea to use as an organiser and in all the lovely Gelatos colours that I love. I need to get myself one or two of those for my crafty stash!
Then you share the canvas with us, and not just the finished project, how and what you used too. I do so love the blog hops where the DT share how they created something. This one makes me want to hunt out my canvas and Gelatos! Thanks for the fabulous inspiration and great blog hop too Karen
