We are loving all the cool projects being created with the Canvas Corp Boots ‘n Saddle Collection. This western themed collection can be used in so many different ways and with so many different color palettes. We are loving Kimberly’s turquoise and chocolate combo in this Dream Catcher Project.
A DREAM CATCHER
Before the color is added and this Dream Catcher comes to life, Kim shows us the pieces and parts she gathered to create her Dream Catcher. All very neutral, simple and elegant, this project could come together just like it is, but wait until you see what happens with the color is added.
What you will need:
- Canvas Crop Chocolate and Ivory Feathers Paper
- Canvas Corp Boots ‘n Saddle on Kraft Paper
- Canvas Corp 12×12 e-flute Kraft
- Canvas Corp Faux Leather
- Canvas Corp 12×12 Canvas
- 225′ natural jute
- Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – Maya Blue, It’s Brown
- Glimmer Glam – Espresso Bean
Step one: fussy cut these large feathers and the Skull and Horse Shoe from the Boots ‘n Saddle on Kraft paper.
Step 2: Paint the feathers with Glimmer Mist using your favorite paint brush. The printed chocolate along with the mixture of color looks amazing together. All the Glimmer Mists have more than one color to create each mist and the variety shows up so well when you paint it one in a watercolor technique (no water required)
Step 3: paint the skull and horse shores with Glimmer Glam and then mist them with the Maya Blue Glummer Mist. The wooden frame under the leather was also painted with the Maya Blue – glimmer mist looks great on wood and as you can see takes on such a different color. Glimmer Mist is a great tint or stain for wood and is available in a wide range of colors. No sanding, priming, rubbing off, the wood takes on the color and will dry to a beautiful finish.
Step 4: Layer your painted pieces onto a piece of kraft elute cute to a round circle, onto a round piece of the faux leather paper, layer the die cut painted wooden frame and set all of this atop a piece of rugged cut canvas for a great look. Glue all these pieces tougher to create a paper dream catcher.
