As you probably know by now – We love to do challenge our Creative Crew and do fun things that keep us creating. In 2018 we wanted to push our dear Creative Crew into new creative adventures. We want them to push their limits, try new things and evolve their creativity. We decided to create a serie of out of the box challenges that we call “Good for the Creative Soul”. For 2019 we have taken this challenge one step futher. We give our Crew one of our paper collections to play with each month – in February they have been playing with “Gypsy Seamstress”.
Gypsy Seamstress embodies all the things we love about sewing in a vintage kind of way. From the old cutting board and tape measures to the wonderful spools of ribbon and old patters. The colorful art of old button packages and notions to the neutral and simple backgrounds make up this eclectic assortment that is ideal for dress makers, sewing lovers or for those who are all about nostalgic clothing and things of the past. Cut the strips out to make edges, tabs and tags. Select fun vintage art to add to calendars as a reminder – doctors appointments, drinks with friends and even laundry. The backgrounds are ideal for adding a vintage vibe and the sayings, words and reminders bring it all together.
Today we share the beautiful work from a few of our Creative Crew Members.

” When I saw this challenge, I knew right away what my project would be: quirky art dolls! So much fun to make the clothes and add embellishments to give them a personality! And they are quite the pair! Her hair and their shoes are colored with glimmer mist. And their outfits are cut from some of the crazy patterns you get in this collection!”

“The Gypsy Seamstress Collection reminds me of my grandmother, who was always sewing as well as making my sister and me paper dolls. I decided to combine both of these things when I created this canvas! I love the vintage images included in the papers, and the Mixed Media pad is so inspiring. By just adding a little Glossy Accents to the buttons and snaps they seem so realistic. I cut out several images from the beautiful papers and layered them on a background created with the Pattern and Quilted papers included in the pack. I even added a vintage rick rack package from my stash to complete the canvas. This canvas will inspire me to create and remind me of my grandmother!”

When you do creativity – small pieces of materials always accumulate. It can be small decorations, several buttons from the set, key that inspires, etc. For such leftovers and inspirational little things, I did the “Junk board”

“I altered an embroidery hoop using lots and lots of the Gypsy Seamstress collection. I began by ironing out the printed canvas and stretched it around the hoop. Then I began cutting out the paper elements. I played for a couple hours with the pieces tonight to come up with what you see now.”
