Love is a Canvas

Furnished by nature and embroidered by imagination. What a great quote and super fitting for this months canvas projects from the Tattered Angels Team. Hi Everyone, Erika Taylor here with my first post on the Tattered Angels blog. Am I nervous? maybe a little. Am I excited? No maybes about it!!!! I’m over the moon to be a part of this amazingly inspirational team. I’m learning so much from each and every member of the team and I’m here to share a little of my creative world with you.

First off an 8 x 10 canvas that I created using a large canvas heart, some Glimmer Mist and a Glimmer Screen. I used Candy Apple Red and Suede Glimmer Mist with the large heart from the Timeless Romance Glimmer Screen kit to create the heart. The canvas itself is sprayed with a pairing of Meadow Green (from the Garden Bouquet kit) and Lemon Zest Glimmer Mists

Here is a little close up of the heart itself.

My next canvas is a raw 4 x 4 piece that was a complete FLUKE!!! I started with this idea to paint a pretty flourish filled piece. For the paints themselves, I used Lemon Zest Glimmer Mist, Dirty Martini and Bordeaux Glimmer Glam. While the Glimmer Glams were still very wet, I sprayed the entire piece with the Lemon Zest Glimmer Mist then let it dry. To my surprise, my frilly flourish piece had morphed into CAMO!!! The perfect background and color combination for that boy card or art piece. I think this one is SUPER COOL and so does our 6 year old boy hehe.

How stinking cool is that!!! Love it. The grungeboard letters were painted with the Glimmer Glam as well then I added a little distress stickles to get them to stand out just a little. A Final spray of Tattered Leather Glimmer Mist over the embossed star for a distressed look finished this little piece up.

Now here comes the girly girl project and I’m head over heals with how this one turned out. After seeing Anna  (Finnabair) work her magic with Structure pastes, I decided to buy some and came across something called Glass bead paste. Well heck, I was all over that like a kid in a candy store, even though I had NO CLUE how to work with it.  I started with a blank 5 x 7 canvas and painted the entire surface with a combination of Vintage Pink, Dragonfly and Lemon Zest Glimmer Mists. There are about 4 or 5 layers total on the canvas, and I blotted each layer with tissue paper to get a very soft background. Then I added some of the Glass Bead Paste here and there and once dry, spray over top of it with Glimmer Mist again.

The chipboard angel wings and letter were sprayed with the same Glimmer Mists (Dragonfly, Vintage Pink and Lemon Zest) by WOW what a difference from the background itself. Again I decided to do layers. Mist, Glass Bead, Mist, Glass Bead and one final misting. The color is super intense and it really is stunning. Here is a close up of the chipboard for ya.

I am so loving how the Glimmer Mist colors really bring out the colors in the peacock feather. Pretty Pretty Pretty I say!!! Try your hand at layering your Tattered Angels Paint product to give you different results. Experimenting is half the fun isn’t it!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you’ve enjoyed your time at the New Tattered Angels Blog with me and I’d love to hear what you think. Don’t forget there is a HUGE announcement on Tuesday January 18th at 8PM MST on http://www.ustream.tv/channel/heidi-swapp-live . You don’t want to miss it!!!

Until Next Time
