A Mixed Media book of Love

Looking for an opportunity to try out your skills on canvas?  This mixed media book for Valentine’s Day might just the the perfect project.  With Valentine’s just around the corner and we wanted to focus on a few simple heartwarming gifts that can be given to anyone – father, boyfriend, husband, friends etc. and this little book does just that.  We started with our 5″x7″ Canvas Portfolio.  The front is painted with Tattered Angels High Impact – Red and embellished with a canvas heart (dots were added with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze – Sangria) and a heart cut from our Printed Fabric Panel – Paris.  To create the flower simply punch or cut circles from a variety of papers or printed fabrics.

To create you book simply cut 10 sheets of Canvas Corp printed Card Stock, we choose items from our new Love Collection along with coordinating papers. They are cut 12″ side x 6″ tall.

We glued them together back to back to give the book the structure and then folded them in 1/2 at the 6″ width.

Punch two holes in each paper on the fold line the same location on each paper ( a trick is to use the whole punch as you guide so that it hits the same location each time), run a piece of jute or ribbon through the channel in the portfolio and lace through the holes, making a bow or know in the center of the book and bind the book and you are ready to begin decorating each page.

Here are a few of the papers we played with to create the inside pages of this book.  One of our new favorite paper designs is our Sending Love Words on Ivory (also available in red, black and white).  Each of the papers includes fun sayings, words, fonts that you can cut out to say what you want to say.  They are perfect for DIY Valentine’s, leaving little notes, adding fun sayings to books and more.

So layer, paint, write, glue, stamp, stencil, just have fun and create a little something that says what you want to say.
