Good Morning, Angels!
Alissa here with another fun project using a little texture paste and a few Tattered Angels gorgeous paint products. You all know by now how much I love making mini books. Today’s project is not only a mini book cover but I created it for one of my favorite classes I participate in annually in September. The class is hosted by Shimelle Laine on her blog and it’s called Learn Something New Every Day. This year I took an old Reader’s Digest I had on hand from the thrift store. I gutted the inside pages and got to work.
I painted the whole book cover with gesso, to give me a blank, white canvas to work with. Once the gesso was dry, I covered the front with a light coat of texture paste and added the leftover chipboard letters all over the front, including my title in the bottom right corner.
Once the paste was dry, I painted on another layer of gesso. Once the gesso was dry, I got to work with the Tattered Angels Paints. The first layer, which you can only see a hint of, is Glimmer Glam in Camel.
Next, I painted the title letters with Glimmer Glaze in Sangria, and then, promptly decided I wanted them to be black. (I do love the hint of red still showing in the final project.
When the Glam and the black paint were dry, I painted 2 more coats over the entire book with Glimmer Glam in Steel. I LOVE how it looks a bit like a shiny metal cover and how the Glimmer Glam gives a nice sealed coating to the project. (similar to Mod Podge)
I then added a binding mechanism and I’m ready to go. Ready to add my pages in September.
One last thing, this project was inspired by a mini book I created ages ago, with paint and chipboard letters, and a friend who recently created something similar and reminded me of how much I loved that older mini. Thanks for the reminder and the inspiration, Lisa. 🙂
I hope you enjoy this project and look forward to sharing another one with you tomorrow.
Have a great day! Alissa
