Something magical happens when you let your creative muse fly free. No barriers, no intimidation and no rules. An Art Journal is that outlet where you can truly embrace your unique and individual creativity and experiment with all your artistic thoughts and dreams.
Hi Everyone, Erika Taylor here today to share with you a few pages of my newest art journal filled with color and dimension. For this first page of my new Journey’s Journal, I’ve used some wonderful colors that for me, really reflect the beginning of a journey. Those fresh colors of spring that make you want to venture out and explore the new world. I used a combination of Chalkboard Glimmer Mists in Teal High Heel, Firefly and Grape Ape to create a soft background. Then I stamped the Blossom Trees image using the same Chalkboard Glimmer mist colors and distress inks. Love how they turned out. The flowers and banner are also painted using these same 3 colors. Finally I added some Rockin On Sunshine Glimmer Glam. I love how Glimmer Glam looks when you let it drip!!!
Next is a rainbow of a page where I tried saturation then using a straw, blowing out rays into the next color. I think this is the COOLEST thing I’ve done so far. I love the outcome and I hope that the photos will do it even a smidge of justice. For the background I used Sun Sisters, Tuscan Sun, Rum Punch, Puerto Rico, Trunk Bay and Lavender Fields Glimmer Mists. The Chipboard dress form is sprayed with Bell Bottom Jeans and the Felt dress form is sprayed with a combination of Viva Pink and Bahama Blue finished off with a healthy serving of Chandelier Glimmer Glam. Finally I sprayed the Canvas wings with Charcoal Chalkboard Glimmer Mist and added a dash of Chandelier Glimmer Glam for that added sparkle. I really wanted to focus on color for this journal page and I hope that the message speaks.
Now onto one of my wedding projects for this month. I’m loving the combination of pinks, yellows and aquas, so I ventured out and painted a wedding photo album using Viva Pink, Teal High Heal and Firefly. A really easy way to personalize an album for that special day.
That is it for me today. I’m off to get all sparkly and inky again. Hope you all have a fantastic day and don’t be afraid to embrace color!!!
Toodles
Erika Taylor
